This is a great place to go for an intimate dinner for two, a casual coffee date or to dine and work. Met a friend at Beaufort Cafe, a Scandi inspired rest - on a Tuesday evening and spent several hours grazing and chatting. The service was attentive, polite and the ambiance warm and friendly. If Le Beau Fort seems to want to persist longer than the Ellefsen that it replaced, I am still looking for a constant at this place. The service, the menu, and even the ambiance vary so much that it is difficult to give a fixed rating to this place. The last time I went there, the person I was with, just like me, found no reason to go back. Several items missing from the menu, practically no vegetarian options, and generic coffee. I was in town visiting my sister and stopped by twice. The owner describes every dish with a clear passion. Everything on the menu is carefully prepared and beautifully presented. I had a grilled calamari salad the second time, which was just excellent. They have some great wines by the glass aw well as beers on tap. It's a great neighborhood place with almost exclusively locals. A rare find.
