After a 2 km long walk through a snow-covered Bavarian forest we arrived at the schwellhaeus. Covered in the snow, the ice-covered pond next to him, we thought we were alone, could not see cars, no one. We open the door to a very busy full restaurant. The waitress found us a table in an adjoining room, traditionally decorated. The food was rich and tasty, traditional Bavarian and naturally washed with beer. If you visit Bayerisch Eisenstein or the Bavarian National Park, this is a must.
On a rainy day we made a hike from Bavarian Eisenstein to Schwellhaeus'l. It is an ideal destination for half a day walking, although there are shorter options to reach it. We were very surprised to see some people there, although the weather was very bad (rain). The place is very cozy in the middle of what is near the jungle. The food is very traditional Bavarian, what you should expect here. However, there are few healthy choices. But we enjoyed it.
Good traditional food , lots of meat, salads but they do not have any English translations of their menu which made ordering for those of us who are fussy quite difficult. There is no reason to expect English menus in Germany but it does encourage English travellers to stop there Just outside is a beautiful lake and children's play area and best of all it is an ideal stop on local walks and cycle paths. Well worthy visit.
