Next, we tried the Bulgogi Tacos, which were equally generous in portion and just as tasty, featuring the same delicious garlic mayo as the burgers. Our next choice was the Nome Fried Chicken; it was well-cooked, served hot, and had a nice spicy kick. Each order came with a selection of sauces, and we opted for the sweet chili sauce. We also ordered a 21-piece sashimi (Moriawase) platter, showcasing fresh fish with stunning presentation. We had initially wanted to order the 30-piece option, but it wasn't available that evening, likely due to the limited selection of fish—this was only a minor inconvenience for us. Then came the Lobster Fantasy roll. While we liked it, we found the flavor t...

The food was flavorful, but the portion sizes felt rather small considering the high prices. We ordered the oyster special; although the oysters were fresh, they were quite tiny—if they were any smaller, they could easily be mistaken for Kumamoto oysters. The $30 pitcher of sake sangria was mostly ice and not very heavy on the sake. My favorite dish was the fried chicken, which was significantly better than the typical karaage found around town, but I still question whether it’s worth $16. The much-hyped Japa Burger was disappointing; the sliders came on stale buns, and the patties were dry and lacked flavor, even with the Japa sauce. My wife had visited a year ago and mentioned that the por...

However, there were several drawbacks to our visit. The oysters were on the small side, and every single one had sand or shell fragments in it—a disappointing experience, especially since I've only encountered this issue a few times in the past but never with every oyster served. As for the hot dishes, they were either under-seasoned or over-seasoned, and the chicken karaage was overcooked, resulting in tough dark meat, which I had never experienced before. Additionally, the shrimp I had was rather chewy. When I attempted to order West Coast oysters from the menu, the server informed me that since it was Tuesday oyster night, they only had those small, sandy Malpeques available. We were so...

The food was delicious, but the portion sizes felt small given the high prices. We ordered the oyster special; while the oysters were fresh, they were quite small—any smaller and they could easily be mistaken for Kumamotos. The $30 pitcher of sake sangria had more ice than sake. My favorite dish was the fried chicken, which far exceeded the typical karaage found in the area. Still, I'm not convinced it was worth the $16 price. The highly recommended Japa Burger was a letdown; the sliders came on stale buns, and the patties were dry and bland, with the Japa sauce failing to elevate them. My wife, who visited a year ago, mentioned that the portions were more generous back then. Overall, while... Reserva una mesa ahora

About 10 minutes after we were seated, a new server took over our table, but she didn't introduce herself or inform us about the automatic gratuity for parties of six. One of my friends ordered a traditional margarita, which wasn’t mentioned on the cocktail menu. When it arrived, it didn’t taste like a classic margarita at all. She asked our server if she could get a different drink. The server returned from the bar and explained that they don’t prepare margaritas in the traditional way, but she couldn’t take the drink back or remove it from our bill—despite the fact that their recipe wasn't listed on the menu and the server hadn't informed us about the differences.

I've dined at both the Yonge location and the Shops at Don Mills, and I personally preferred the atmosphere at Yonge, likely because there was some fantastic old-school music playing during our visit. However, I've been frequenting the Shops at Don Mills lately since it's more convenient for parking. The dishes are meant for sharing, so they come in smaller sizes. Everything we ordered on our latest visit was tasty—not exceptional, but definitely satisfying. The service was friendly and reasonably attentive. The space isn't very large, but it boasts high ceilings, and with patio season in full swing, it effectively doubles in size with many guests dining outside.

Don't expect an authentic Izakaya experience at this place. My friend and I ordered rice bowls (the Cali donburi and aburi salmon donburi), but they turned out more like poke bowls, and they were drenched in dressing, making them soggy. We opted to sit on the patio, but it lacked shade or umbrellas, which made it quite uncomfortable for my eyes. On a positive note, the service was good, and they did keep my water refilled.

On my first visit to a Japanese restaurant, I had the pleasure of enjoying sushi and a selection of other authentic Japanese dishes. While I have to admit that the prices are on the higher side, the incredible culinary experience made it well worth the cost. The dishes were packed with delicious flavors that left a lasting impression, and sharing the experience with friends made it even more enjoyable. Reserva una mesa ahora

We ordered the Japa burger sliders, unagi risotto, Nome fried chicken, and takoyaki. To our surprise, it was quite calm for a Friday night, which made the service prompt and attentive. All the dishes were delicious, although they were a bit on the expensive side.
