Pagewood The Rex Hotel Maroubra

I went to the bistro in The Pagewood Hotel for lunch on a Saturday. The bistro opens at 11.30am and as we were there before then my son and I had a drink while waiting, as it was early the pub was empty and the staff seemed sociable enough. I ordered loaded fries which was chips with bacon , cheese and avocado, this was very filling and quite a reasonable price from memory about $11.00

Very quiet except for the sound of horse races. At least there are some tables out on the busy road (only for drinking and smoking, not eating). Took five minutes for staff to show up. Beers are way too expensive for this sort of place Matraville Hotel is just up the road, is much better, and might be cheaper.

The drive in bottle shop is the best with the greatest service from the friendly and experienced staff that makes buying alcohol a pleasure. Had the kids in the car and they got a pair of sunglasses and hat.

Visited for the first time for lunch. A good variety of food on the menu. It was not busy so we didn't have to wait long. I had the Veal Schnitzel which was good. Would visit again.

Has gone up 3 times in the last 6 months , very average now$16 for a kids size portion And what ever you ask for is always well done, not going back again
