Regent Thai Restaurant

Six years ago, I used to come here once or twice a week for lunch. I was in the neighborhood today, and feeling nostalgic, so I came for lunch. I had the roasted duck curry. It was so good. The slickness is just right. It was spicy without burning, and the flavor is spot on. I?m always worried that the duck would be old, and it wasn?t the case. The duck was fresh and plentiful. I ate every single bit of curry and steam rice. I also had Thai iced tea with light ice. Perfect amount of sweetness. For dessert, I had sticky rice with Thai custard. So we live very close and Regent WAS we go to the Thai restaurant. At some point, they must have changed hands either shortly before or during the pandemic. We gave them several attempts and sadly decided to never eat there again. The staff used to be just warm and welcoming and the food was always fresh and tasty. It's not the case now. The chicken satay was consistently dry and the peanut sauce super watery. At best, the curries have proved to be inconsistent, which changes in saturation and salt content. I could go on, but you know what they say when they hit a dead horse. Rain Thai is the horse. I'm so sorry.

For years Regent orders Thai and their dishes are never disappointed. Very tasteful, extensive menu with fast and friendly service. Prices are better than most places in the city (although the portion sizes are smaller). Definitely a hidden jewel of a restaurant.

Two days in a row. What else can I say? The prices are great. I'd eat tomorrow if I were in Sf one day. Stop reading other reviews. Just go. You won't regret it.

Great place for families, takeout. It's not fat. We often eat from here. Pad Thai and green curry are our favorites.
