I'm so glad we made it. the personal was welcoming and very courteous and the pub overall has a very friendly atmosphere with great decor. we had the Sunday menu that had a good choice of food, except the usual frying dinner. Eating took about 40 minutes, which is perfect when it cooked everything to order. I found that eating too reasonable and very tasty. much better than your average 'pub grub.' we can't wait to go back, preferably mid-week, so we can try the normal main menu that has a larger selection of foods. Overall, I would 'd give it a massive thumb up and recommend to everyone to pay it, visit a one they regret it.
We didn't stay at the hotel but we had a wonderful dinner here. Everything was of great quality. We ordered a steak pie and fish and chips. The only thing I would change would be the type of potato. For the pie I would have chosen a potato mash since it was the same type of potato for both dishes. The service was very nice and helpful. The classic decorated place. We had a pre-dinner beer on the outside terrace and it was very nice. Price of the best quality-price places that we tried in York, I would repeat without a doubt.
Just back from a birthday weekend in York. We stopped 2 nights at the Rose Crown and I can honestly say that we were well looked after. The room was very good and the breakfasts were perfect ... full English ofcourse We also ate twice in the pub the food was excellent, the large chips are amazing and the pies are quality. It is probably less than 10 mins walk into York and has good parking at the pub, so no need to use the car.
Their wifi password is not bragging. Literally the best pie I have ever had, never mind it being the best pie in York. Service was outstanding. 100/10. Highly recommended, and would totally eat there again. In fact, can't wait for our next visit to York, it has become a firm favourite eatery just on that one visit.
