I had the unfortunate experience of lunching at this restaurant, and I must say, I was appalled by their business practices. Here 's the story: I had invited five clients for lunch, and I made an online reservation. The day before our scheduled meal, I received an email (attached) with the following information: For no show, short notice cancellations, or lower number of people we have to charge you a contribution towards expenses per each person . Now, here 's what unfolded: Upon arriving at the restaurant, my clients informed me that two of them had fallen ill during the night and would not be able to join us for lunch. As we took our seats at a table, I promptly informed the waiter and ap...

Location of the restaurant is close to the station and Bahnhofstrasse. The ambience is nice, as well the newly made garden terrace looked good. Food was tasty but I would yet call it standard. Not sure if Desserts (Pana Cota, Caramelköpfli) is homemade I 'd guess it 's bought in. Prices are in range for a restaurant in Zurich and the proximity to the center. This all would lead to 3 or 4 stars, also the lemon schnaps offered at the and was friendly. But the reason to only give two stars is the fact that the service owner is stubborn and has a rule which they don’t step away a single millimeter. We were a group and all ordered for maindish, some for starters as well. We consumed as well enoug...

We were a table of 6 people, found a table for Friday night basically at the last minute, so there was no space outside. However, after 20 minutes we were there, they could make us move to an outside table, which was really appreciated. Food: we got appetizers first, which were very varied (meat, fish, some typical Italian appetizers) and then there was a broad choice among pasta, fish or meat. Definitely well-done and good quality. There is also a broad choice of wine. Service: I would say excellent, as I never even had to pour the wine/water myself, as there was always a friendly waiter/waitress around ready to do it (without bothering of course). They also offered us a liquor at the end....

We went to Schutzengasse soon after it opened on a Saturday and were fortunate enough to get a table for two; it got very full over the evening. This is a smart urbane restaurant although the claimed 'Swiss ' take on Italian food seemed muted. We didn 't regret settling for our host 's recommendations (we were dithering over the menu) although they were quite conventional tomato and burrata salad, sole cooked on the bone (expertly filleted) and steak tagliata. Vitamin conscious eaters should note that the latter 's vegetable accompaniment erred on the side of well done rather than al dente (as we tended to find throughout our visit to Switzerland). Was here with a group of ten people not my first visit. We called ahead to organize a birthday dinner. Service was so unfriendly at one point the restaurant manager came and dictated how many grams of meat we had to order per person and how much we needed to spend per person meanwhile we had many bottles of champagne open as well as wine. Have rarely experienced such a low level of hospitality and such bad value for the price we paid.

The food was quite pleasant: a reasonably well cooked piece of meat (beef) together with spinach (seasoned with a bit too much garlic). Nothing to complain about, at least not too much. The service has been a little bit too unpersonal, even a touch of unfriendliness, especially at the end of the dinner. We did not feel very welcomed. A bit like feeding the hungry ones who do not really deserve the best food they offer.

Work lunch. A fairly extensive but expensive choice for lunch. There is also a standard lunch menu. Choice of 3 dishes. Better priced. I went for menu 2 (24.50). Tasty. Enough. My friend had the chicken (kikeriki 33.50) Service and staff are very good. One bad point. You can pay in EUR OR CHF, but on a 1=1 exchange rate which is an awful rate. Airport level awful.

Visited the restaurant during a work lunch and we were lucky to sit outside. We went for the lunch menue which consisted of 3 courses andwas very tasty. As it was not my first visit, I also can recommend the homemade pasta, especially with truffles. The restaurant was fully booked but the service still was fast, friendly and professional.
