The Elderberry House

This is a high-quality restaurant, regardless of location. That it's in Oakhurst in the staging town on the road to Yosemite is remarkable. It's part of a boutique hotel called the Chateau du Sureau in the upscale Relais Chateaux chain, and the entrance feels like entering a villa. We were early and had a drink at the wooden bar in a little cellar-like room off the lobby, a bit close but charming. Some walk-ins were accommodated there for dinner and the bartender was friendly. Then we moved across the lobby to the main dining room where we had an excellent five-course tasting menu with a couple of glasses of well-paired wine. Loved the service and ambiance. As for food, the sweet offerings (scones, croissants, parfaits) were excellent. The savory items were not. Egg salad was bland, shredded beef ribs tasted like they were made in a crockpot, and the raw ground beef tartare was left untouched. Paid $250 for 2 for afternoon tea.

Nestled amongst what appears to be an absolute food desert is this gem of a restaurant. Every attention to detail was given. The chefs displayed so much artistry, both visually and flavor wise. The service was also top notch. We definitely give this restaurant a 10 out of 10 and we are serious foodies.

Food and service was excellent. The only thing that didn't exactly fit was the music/ the restaurant also had a somewhat strange smell when you walked in. Overall it was a wonderful experience with 5 star food And Erika did a fantastic job!

Probably one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Totally unexpected as we were staying in an RV park 15 minutes away and was simply looking for something decent nearby. Service was outstanding as was the food.
