The Marchmont Arms

We've always loved the Marchmont, great building with tons of history but unfortunately let down by standard restaurant etiquette. We were led to our table by the very pleasant maitre'd to a very wet table which when wiped still had a watermark seeped into the wood. The side plates were dirty and the cutlery stained. Having worked in the business for over 30 years I appreciate being busy, but they weren't! The starters were well presented, but the chicken was tasteless and the koftas overcooked. Moving onto the mains, the wagyu burger was overcooked and dry and the crab and lobster tasteless. Overall, disappointing but we will always give it another go.

the selection and value of the food has decreased with the current menu change. the Moroccan bowl bad presentation, looked and tasted like a tesco ready dish: a pity as before our destination for dinner

everything was really good, except the background music that wasn't. a little loud for a restaurant.

Not worth the money they are charging for for the food can get a lot better quality for the money
