we have finished a hiking holiday in besalu and booked at els fogans de can llaudes what we have for a tasty bite. we were the only ones in the restaurant and jaume served the two of us a tasting menu over... wonderfully with local and specifically resource-saving ingredients, jaume turns a unique magie. we have never experienced such a taste and beauty in a manner and will always remember a very special evening. jaume is a wonderfully committed person who shares his passion with enthusiasm and warmth.

this was our second experience with exclusive private restaurants with friends in this beautiful former Chapel restaurant in the city square of historic besalu. owner and chef jaume, with daughter ananda belinda served exquisite Catalan dishes with a passion born from memory of the...love and skills of the grandmother of jaume. a starter with individual elements that are eaten to set the scene for a nice culinary journey. this is so good and will challenge her search for superlatives.

this is perhaps our fourth visit, but again very special. jaume, the owner/cook and his daughter amanda belinda, show such a passion for eating that they cook and their accompanying wee. Once again, everything was perfect the meal, wein, service and the venue in...a century rebuilt chapel not to miss a unique experience. many thanks for such a delightful day.

we ate dinner in this wonderful restaurant on a beautiful juli evening. the restaurant is located on a classic medieval square, which is almost exclusively populated by locals in the evening. one of the advantages of not making besalú as a day trip! the owner, jaume, has served us beautiful decisions and made great recommendations. I have Celiac disease, so I have to eat gluten-free. jaume understood this completely, and could assure me that almost every item on the menu could be prepared gluten-free for me. my man and I had both great meals, enjoy the nightlife of the plaza played as local children, rode bikes, etc., while older people sat and chat. a perfect evening, in a wonderful restaurant!

Wonderful meal in exceptional surroundings century converted chapel in the centre of Besalu. Exclusive use of the venue and extremely attentative service even more so as the proprietor/chef, Jaume, who had been taken ill, asked his daughter, Belinda, to come in at...very short notice to look after us. Very much appreciated and the whole day was thoroughly enjoyed by us all, We chose our main course but left Belinda to surprise us with everything else she made excellent choices and served superb wine (Should mention that Belinda had a bad fall mid-way in the meal but was determined to carry on looking after us very brave girl we can't thank the family enough) a fantastic day out.

This was probably the best eating experience we have ever enjoyed: my wife and I were the only diners in a converted century chapel off a lovely medieval square, being cooked a tasting menu of dishes with bottles of fine wine from...the region (Catalonia) by the most charming chef-proprietor himself. We had booked by email a week earlier, having seen only good reviews. The owner, Jaume Sole, doesn't take customers except by pre-booking as he buys the quantities in and prepares them up to hours in advance. couples tried to come in whilst we were there and Jaume had to explain why they couldn't be accommodated. The tasting menu showcases local cuisine and wines. The cooking is perfect and the unique experience is to be talked through each dish by the creator himself. Jaume is a lovely man, apparently a former music professor and concert guitarist who decided at to become a professional chef. He owns the tapas bar next door which is open during the day when his restaurant is closed and closed when his is open. It seems he cooks alone but no delays or complaints from us. Everything was perfect from the decor to the food to the the music classical music conducted by Jaume from his past life. Great ambience and unforgettable.

Read ahead, booked, he rang back. Easy to find, main square (St Peter ffs). Lights on early October evening, empty but for music, relax it's a great setting ... it is. dishes later, very much ok......all big enough to get the flavour, the essence....Lots of fish n veg. Cava n white wine. Till the steak n red to match. Personal service. This is eating as art. Careful succession of tastes n textures. I closed my eyes n moaned out loud (quietly.....I hope Had to find the boss to pay- I mangled the Spanish trying telling him it was too cheap. It is. Slightly reluctant to share but this place deserves support. Hard not to think of favourites I/U might like to take there. Precious time, enjoy n appreciate it!
