our last night here and hang down the BEST dinner we had all the weekend! I wish we had come back here on the first, in any case.
so pleased that this restaurant was recommended to us. we both had the steak and it was amazing. the staff was friendly and helpful. would definitely go back!
only had a few snacks and coffee, but very good and clean and service good, but quite an ascent there.
we came here after a recommendation of an expat that said the steaks were amazing. so we have booked a table over the bay and the hard coal of them with high expectations. Unfortunately these expectations were not fulfilled, the steak was hard, although medium. it was not overcooked, the flesh itself was not great. other meal times had also been missing so that we did not return. Maybe it was a free day that knows, but there were much better places out there to risk it.
We just turned up without booking and found a table outside, table service from the staff was fantastic always visible and more than happy to answer questions helping with your choice of meal. We had Sucking pig, BBQ ribs, Sea Bream and Sea Bass. Quantity...was large, quality can’t fault it however we would have like a few more chips but vegetables excellent. Atmosphere again couldn’t fault it with wonderful views, very relaxing, attentive staff great food. Recommend.
On the positive waitresses were nice and friendly enough and there is a view, but the positives stop there. The food was really poor quality and well overpriced. Croquettes to start with over 8 euros, arrived minutes after placing order. These weren't great and tasted...like something from a supermarket freezer aisle. Main course of suckling pig and spare ribs supposedly cooked in a wooden oven. Again arrived so quickly there was only possibly time to warm things through. Vegetables tasted canned. Meat was very poor. Overpriced for what it is. Crisps and chocolate croissants followed back at the apartment after giving up on trying to get through the mains!
Fabulous restaurant the food was cooked to perfection, we had the lamb shoulder which fell from the bone and melted in you mouth and the sirloin steak cooked medium (uk version rare) and was one of best cooked steak I’d had in a long time....Prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. The front tables are overlooking the bay which is a beautiful view, staff are very attentive without being in your face. 5* definitely a go-to if you’re in the area
Coming to the end of our stay in Arenal D’en Castell and having tried most, if not all the lovely restaurants here, I am choosing this as my favourite. Warm welcome, beautiful food (try cod in red pepper starter) and a stunning view. Great value...for money.
