maiz, canela y cilantro is a local, family-run small restaurant in merida, with vegetarian and vegan options. I visited here for lunch during my stay in merida and was presented with an breakfast menu. it had many egg options and some veggie options. Maybe because I arrived at 11:30 a.m., the breakfast was still served, but I had read about the lunch of the day when they had a vegetarian and regular version. this lunch option was not presented to me what was regrettable, as I really wanted to try and heard good things. I'm not sure what time your lunch menu is served, but if it were nice if these information would be available. Anyway, I ordered the roasted vegetables and the juice of the day that was chaya. the roasted vegetables were quite good, although it was lacking taste. they came with fresh tortillas and roasted beans that were delicious! the salsa with which the meal came was soo sharp. I wasn't warned about the time of the personal, although I should probably try it first before I had a whole spoon on my tortilla. my mouth was on fire for the rest of my meal. the staff was friendly and friendly. there was an open kitchen on the back of the restaurant, where you could see how eating is freshly prepared by local women. the decor was beautiful and there were many wooden and various local arts on the walls. the restaurant had a quiet, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I would come back, but would try to catch the set lunch of the day! I also wish there were more Veggie options that do not contain eggs.
