bar ruiz is a popular family restaurant right next to the beach in alameda, which is located below the dunes. it is known for tasty and hearty meat and fish-tidines, it also serves great tapas and paella. the booking is recommended as it gets very full at the weekend, especially in summer and ask for a table outside or on the terrace where you can enjoy the view and the brise. tidinss must be ordered at least 1 day in advance, so plan ahead. lamb is great and comes in the traditional decorated pot, and the fish is served with a much slow-baked vegetables. I went there with friends and had a great time. the prices are reasonable for all couscous or tajine dishes 15 euro per head. very recommended for a Saturday or Sunday dinner. noisy but alive and funny!

because of covid we haven't eaten here for 2 years, and I realized that we've last revised in 2016! we came a touching when popularity had led to lower standards, but we do not need to worry. in contrast to our previous review, there are now more items on the carta. chipirones rebozadas were an excellent starter before an arroz a banda with ample seafood (about a third of them we had to take away in a doggy box this is no chiringuito and the prices are medium-class: drinks similar a note more expensive than some other places. we were happy with our accounts. By the way, we were looking for earlier complaints about the recruitment of the staff and observed nothing dishonest. our reservation was made by a friendly young waiter who tried to communicate in English. in the table we were served by an older man who would call me an old-fashioned Spanish waiter: few words or smile, but we got exactly what we wanted extremely fast. as noted by others, it is best to reserve in the rule (determined in high season or at the weekend) and especially if they want a rice dish or something Moroccan.

We have been visiting Bar Ruiz for 8 years during our stays in the mountains. It is our favourite restaurant. Best to reserve a table, especially during the summer months, more than a day in advance. Also pre-order one of the signature Moroccan or Spanish...dishes. Otherwise there are excellent tapas, salads etc. The menu never changes, about a dozen assorted each of tapas, platas combinados, bocadillos, pre-ordered dishes, a few salads and an extensive bar menu. This little gem has evolved from an excellent place into one of the most sought after dining experiences for miles around. Family owned and run it is well organised and friendly. You will need to understand Spanish or French, the male owner is from Morocca, his wife and the rest of the staff are Spanish. Although we only go 6 or so times a year, now, we are greeted like long lost friends when we re-appear! Book a table, you will not be disappointed!
