"The BSW Ferienhotel Rote Erde can be traded as something like a secret tip, but the BSW is thought of as a holiday home of the Stiftung Bahn-Sozialwerk. The fact that you can eat breakfasts or lunches is that we have only experienced half of the quasi-insulans who have spent many months a year on the island for decades. The house is located directly on the New Lighthouse; also the promenade is within walking distance. Here you can almost go to the sea in house suffins... The restaurant (respectfully: large dining room) is flattering and offers a beautiful view of the lighthouse on the fully glazed side. The two rooms make a bright, light, wide-ranging impression and have obviously been completely redesigned and decorated not too long ago. With a low-floor, patterned carpet that gives the impression of wood laminate. With modern four-size and convenient seating. We take place just at the best lunch time in the already well-occupied front room, with a view of a stylized sea map from the Emden bay. There's a maritime lust for sailors. All in all, the large rooms, however, make the feeling of a busy holiday home and canteen-like large kitchen come up. Apparently, changing lunch table of different quality is offered. Today's buffet for 12 euros promises a free choice: vegetable cream soup with croutons, fish fillets, chicken fillet tips with plums, Provencal vegetables, linguins, potato valleys. Doesn't sound so bad, but sometimes it's a convenience food. The buffet is built in the back room and, in view of the dimensions there, it then appears in a vanishingly tiny and somewhat poor. Some hot tubs are used for Gusto Spaghetti instead of the announced linguins and potato jerks, which probably originate from the TK semi-censor pack from the large market. Also the announced plucked plucked plucked plucked out more than champignons. For this, the vegetables (mainly pieces of red, yellow, green paprika) taste quite neatly, is pleasantly spiced and flush well down. The vegetable soup also surprises with fine creaminess and still has slices of different types of bread as a supplement. The snakes at the buffet are not big, there is no tangle, so that you can get very quickly and without stress. Cutlery and colorful, firm napkin with large suction force are already arranged on the tables. So well on the buffet, as on the counter and on the squares there is a comprehensible cleanliness. In a glass showcase, delicious cake pieces – probably already for the afternoon coffee. But unfortunately we have no more time for this. Nevertheless, our companions also have aroused the appetite that we have to go back to the cake dinner later. But this is a separate story... drinks are ordered at the reliable, quiet, friendly service that comes to the table. The prices are moderate: a semi-liter bottle Apollinaris for 2.80 euros, a small Alster for 2.60 euros, a semi-liter yeast for 3.90 euros, a large cola for 2.90 euros. We are served quickly and easily. Only when paying the credit card, we amazed at the rigorous statement of the service: “This is no longer possible.” Card payment must be noted when ordering. Well, enough cash will save me from dishwashing. All in all, the Red Earth makes a solid impression, but remembers local canteens. Larger groups can easily be found here. The service works perfectly and does not stress. I would have liked to have picked up the rooms in the upper floors – I suspect something at a higher youth hostel level. Maybe I'll find time in the coming days. The toilets in the EC are in any case completely proper and well maintained. The foyer contains brochures on the island, event flyers and reading circle journals. So you don't get bored here."
