"This restaurant is recommended in the Michelin Guide with two red forks. Admittedly it has no star, but this is a region in France with very few starred restaurants. We spent 3 weeks in the region and went to many restaurants, including most of the ones recommended by the Michelin Guide and it was really interesting because it demonstrated how bad the Michelin Guide is.This restaurant was particularly poor, and also extremely pretentious, Michelin style. The pretentiousness would not be a problem as such, but what was weird was the extremely unprofessional service, in combination with weird techniques used in the kitchen. For example, the amuse-bouche course came served in individual spoons and glasses on a slate platter to which they were attached with glue, presumably to prevent them from slipping off the platter in transit from the kitchen. When you picked something up, long stringy glue strands stretched from the platter. It was so strange. It was so off-putting.The food was really not very good. The ladies serving in the restaurant seemed like students, with no one in charge. They spent a lot of time chatting to each other at the bar while not paying any attention to the small number of guests in the restaurant. When serving they did everything in the most complicated way possible, without seeming to have ever done it before or being familiar with the process of serving food in a restaurant. The wine list was non-existent as the only wines available are those made at the domaine itself, which is a very low-level, highly commercial and really bad winery. The view over the winery, where the restaurant is, is surreal. The landscape is dominated by an artificially excavated amphitheatre of vines. This winery clearly has a lot of money to spend, and spends it on running a pretentious and pointless restaurant to promote itself, and producing pretentious wine with no sense of place or purpose. Why does the Michelin Guide put this place in? It makes one very curious to know more about their special kind of corruption and kickback system, since no one could ever possibly have thought this restaurant should be worth recommending."
