"Those who make a holiday in Seelbach near Lahr are a hike to Hohengeroldseck Castle Ruins. The ruins still well preserved are visible on a hill overlooking the Schuttertal. Since we do not want to overdo it and want to hear rebellious sounds of our two little companions at the word “walking”, we only start from the hiking park below the castle. From here you come back to the castle and back over a beautiful roundabout, the whole to a pure runtime of about 1.5 hours. On the way there are some playgrounds for the children, so that the Gemurre then kept within limits. On the way back there are a few hundred meters in front of the hiking parking lot left Becks Vesperstube. If you don't know this is a place, you can also just walk by. There is only a small sign at the entrance to the garden, that was it. The garden is also a real eye-catcher. Nicely cultivated, slightly angled, it offers space for some tables and looks more local. Unfortunately not for us today, as our hike was accompanied by a small bad weather and rain. So we went to the cozy house dog to the guest room. Time seems to have stopped about 30 40 years ago. In me there were memories of a small garden club house that my parents ran 35 years ago. Simple wooden chairs tables with synthetic fiber tablecloths and crocheted ceilings, wooden ceiling, revolving bench and decoration and pictures that also fit into my grandmother's living room. Some people can turn away, I liked it very well due to its authenticity. But I admit that this is probably a very subjective feeling. When entering the place we are kindly greeted by a middle woman. In the guest room there are already a small group of hikers, a single master and a group of Urban workers who had already seen in the castle and who spend their lunch break here. But there's plenty of room and we're looking for a table in the window. The service that welcomed us brought us the cards and immediately asked the beverage order. We were all thirsty and ordered 2 big and 1 small special and 1 cyclist. Note: Since there was no mechanical document, but only a handwritten note, which also contained only the amounts and not the orders, I cannot say in the best will what drinks or food costs. The drinks then found their way to us at the table quite fast. Especially there were in glasses, the cyclist finished mixed from the bottle (but of course I added glass). The card contains, as the name of the place already says, exclusively Vesper. Both in cold and warm form. As a standard supplement there is bread to any dish. The rib (a kind of slightly plastered and cooked chop, similar to the Frankfurt rib, but less plastered) that we had found on the map (unfortunately there is no such thing in NRW and we have a certain deduction) was unfortunately out. Therefore we ordered: 1x peasant sausage 1x carving with bread (natural for junior) 1x brunette 1x 3 eggs with bacon 1x potato salad The food came to the table after a clear waiting period. At first a basket with bread was placed in the middle of the table, then gradually the remaining plates were taken. The dishes served were rather pragmatic, with parsley bivalve, tomato carving and, if necessary, gastro mustard packages. The carving (gold-brown, roasted in the pan) was very good even if our youngster missed a little his beloved pommes. The eggs were prepared as an omelet with baked bacon strips. The part was a little too much for our grand, but it was otherwise very satisfied. The peasant sausage (heated only in water) does not need many words. A middle-class product I've eaten better. The potato salad I ordered separately was a big surprise. Optically, I thought of a comfort product that I immediately rejected after the first attempt. This potato salad was a completely different variant than usual. Potatoes were not cut into slices but coarsely rubbed or sprinkled (if possible with boiled potatoes). Onions and small cucumbers were processed. The whole thing with mayonnaise and probably yogurt and dill. After a first eyebrow, I was very different than usual, but very tasty. The brunette (kept, smoked and cooked pork shoulder) was wonderfully spiced, extremely tender and sufficient in the amount that my dear wife could also leave her hungry man a little. Then the operation came to pay with a small tear-off block, wrote some numbers on it that I could not bring back in accordance with the order, and added the whole to €35. This was within the scope of the expected or almost below and thus more than OK for us. Rating: Ambiente: Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we could not take a seat in the beautiful garden. On the other hand, we would have missed this guest room from the past. I evaluate here very subjectively in view of sentimental memories 4 star service: The lady in the service was extremely friendly, competent and fixed. You can't expect much more here. After all, the Flair family gives the rash to 4 stars food: As I said, it's not a restaurant in the real sense. But the tasting was more than just good. There were unexpectedly good, light disappointments, but no real mistakes. With 3.5 stars, I think Becks Vesperstube is rated fair. Cleanliness: All in all a clean thing. The one or other sticks could perhaps be considered a bit more accurate, but it was still in good range 4 stars price-performance ratio: You will be fed here really well for your money. The expectations are not very high and so we are all very satisfied with the received and Papa's wallet is also saved. 4.5 stars. Conclusion: I would probably not come here extra, but in connection with a trip to Hohengeroldseck Castle Ruins at any time. I would even pay extra attention to not make the trip on one of the remaining days."
