"What do you want? At the end of the third stage of the Panoramaweg Taubertal from Mergentheim to Tauberbischofsheim we had chosen the Hotel St. Michael in Tauberbischofsheim as accommodation after 32 kilometres. The hotel is close to the course and was therefore a natural choice as a stage accommodation. In addition, the hotel is an integrative operation of the Caritas and that was a reason for us to return there. This is how the hotel on HP describes itself: A hotel with a special character awaits you directly on the romantic road in the heart of the Liebliche Taubertal: Welcome to St. Michael . This spirit of coexistence shapes our house. We had the third good reason to return to the house on arrival and to look at the menu of Hotelrestaurant Stammberger in front of our eyes, a very tempting menu. All good things are three, we were very excited about our evening and the night in St. Michael. A friendly lady at the reception has checked us into a modern and bright room. A bit of convent army (the hotel is an old establishment of the Bishöliche chair) was promoted by a PVC pole, but otherwise the room as well as the house could be seen. These were good hotel standards. After the longest day, we were fresh and went to the restaurant Stammberger for dinner. It wasn't much on this Monday night, except there were only a few tables occupied by hotel guests. The ambience presents itself modern and bright, see picture. Unfortunately, the weather was not good enough for the beautifully located terrace in front of the restaurant. We were assigned a table for two people. The tables were simply covered with table sets, a tablecloth was dispensed with. Two ladies took care of the guests. The maps were handed over and we saw a nice short map on which HP is visible. Asparagus in all variations on the season ticket, with two pages of other dishes. The kitchen cooks internationally with Franconian effects. On the wine list a wide selection of wines from the Taubertal that could please everything and we were looking forward to our dinner. The kitchen greeted us with a board, on it baguette slices, with a tomatized butter. That was okay and we waited for our ordered dishes. My wife started with a Franconian green kernel soup with awning. I didn't try, but my wife seemed to taste it. There were no complaints about the soup from semi-ripe dinkeletal grains. For me it should be something outside the season ticket: Marinated Badischer Stangenspargel mit Erdbeeren und Rucola The marinated asparagus was a little too much for me, and for me it was no longer crispy enough. However, this is a very personal view of cooking a asparagus in salad. The marinade gave no reason to complain. With sufficient acid, it was well harmonized with the lukewarm asparagus. I had a good taste of rocket salad with strawberries. Good court. In the main course my wife followed a roasted beef fillet from the Franconian breeding with red wine sauce, leaf spinach and potato gratin. She was served with a piece of beef that had respected every sailor. Luckily, she was hungry for a long day of hiking and immediately began to fall apart. The smell and optics of the farm were seductive. The meat was well ripened and boiled to the point medium. Good equipment. I had ordered medals from the Franconian guinea pig in a bacon with red wine sauce, colorful pansy and homemade dinkel Spätzle. The late lions were not beaten, but tasty and clear of wheat flour Late Lard. Vegetables like ratatouille. Also well prepared and seasoned with clearly perceptible thyme. Very good the medallions that were juicy, slightly pink and wrapped in a crowned bacon coat. The sauce also delicious. Finally, unbelievably what my wife can eat after 32 kilometers, another cheese plate for both of us. The restaurant is available on the map as follows: Organic milk cheese selection from the cheese shop Zurwies Alter Boschen, Walnuß Brie, pickled air, brick cheese with Tessin Feige and Baguette. That was a delicious and well selected cheese plate. And after that we are really tired! By eating a red wine accompanied us, after the cold and rainy day we had no need for a chilled white wine. The originally chosen Black Riesling of the VDP winery Egon Schäffer was unfortunately out, we went to the Portuguese territory and ordered a tinto, fabulous Douro from Niepoort from 2013 and were very satisfied with its fruity primary aromas. Overall we had a nice evening at the restaurant Stammberger. Good food, good service, a beautiful ambience. This restaurant is recommended. Just like the whole hotel. They do not notice the integrative character of the company, and I do not believe that a greater praise can be made to such a company!"
