Haven’t been for several years, the new restaurant design and decor is superb! The tasting menu was delicious, interesting tasty dishes beautifully presented. Unfortunately they really need to up their game with the finer details. They could have done with at least another two servers, they were running around obviously stretched. They need to be more vigilant offering water, removing used wine glasses etc. We opted for the wine pairing and the pours were not very consistent! Also when you have wine pairing, you expect a bit more description and introduction of the wines….where it’s from, what year, description and be shown the bottle…a bit of a chat about the wine adds to the enjoyment of t...

It might have been 18 months since this team had to suspend their duties, but they are back better and stronger. New staff and a complete dining room makeover make the fact that the magic is still there, even more remarkable. Perfect friendly greeting and shown to our table without any fuss. A big smile and two champagne cocktails arrived, a fine start to our new tasting menu experience. 5 ample courses of fine dining quality, fresh and tasty throughout A perfect night ended with the chaps coming from their new visible kitchen area to enjoy a few minutes reflection with their customers before clearing up.... a great way to round off the evening, well done everyone We will be back next month...

I stayed at 1885 on Saturday 29th January 2022,i booked a room for just 1 night as i was on a business trip, I was absolutely amazed at the extremely high standard of the room, the food was excellent and the staff were so polite and friendly, I will defiantly stay at 1885 again, I recommend 1885 to all, a great place to stay and excellent food and the prices are excellent. Well done guys i will see you all again soon.

Took my mother here for the Mothers Day roast deal on Sunday. The restaurant is lovely inside and nicely furnished. The staff were absolutely excellent, its hard to think of a time I've been so impressed.Food was delicious and just enough time was given between courses. Very reasonable for the high quality food we ate. We will definitely be returning.

eating was absolutely amazing! the pub itself is beautiful and welcoming. my only question was that a certain employee spoke loudly about the shortening of work time and their behavioural attitudes which I felt as unprofessional. through this conversation we sat one of them with telling to settle. that wouldn't stop me.

Just had the seasonal taster menu. . If you enjoy fine dining it IS the place to go!! Exceptional quality, impeccable service, wonderful ambience, excellent local produce knowledge. Attention to detail outstanding!! Can't wait to go again!!

Fabulous food friendly service! Opted for the wine flight package which complimented the food perfectly. The waiter was knowledgable generous with his measures. Already planning our next visit.

Quirky little pub, it's also an hotel that serves fantastic food. We only went in for a pint after a walk and the service was brilliant
