360o Restaurant Piz Gloria

Restaurant Piz Gloria is a 360º revolving restaurant located on the top of the Schilthorn at 2970m altitude. On a splendid cold day in January, we took the cable-car and came up for enjoying the magnificent views over the Bernese Alps. We appreciated the distance...signs over the globe on the ceiling, with Easter Island at 14,400km. The items at the Bond Museum downstairs, and screens showing the relevant bit from the 1969 film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’, are for what it’s worth. We didn't have high hopes for the food but went for a Glühwein Apfelstrudel and enjoyed a full revolution. Service is friendly and adapted to host herds of tourists. On a beautiful day a visit of the restaurant is well worth your CHF 65 ticket. Drehrestaurant Piz Gloria is a really unique restaurant-café experience.

It was certainly fun to visit this restaurant with its stunning views of the Jungfrau area. The 360 revolving set up is a fun gimmick, and we were fortunate to get a prime window seat with a great view. However, the food is not amazing....We did the brunch and there was a good selection of items, including many vegetarian dishes, but the quality is unfortunately cafeteria-level. The only dish I really enjoyed was the barley soup. At least the price is not too high. We had much better meals elsewhere in Switzerland.

While we were leaning towards the A La Carte menu, our waiter strongly encouraged us to opt for the all you can eat buffet without telling us we’d only have half an hour until it closed! We’d hardly consumed half our soup when we...realised their misdemeanour, and had to scoff down as much as we could down as quickly as we could. We nabbed a few too many of the included champagne while the waiters backs were turned to make up for it.

Choose a day where the clouds are few and take the cable car up to Piz Gloria and have lunch in the revolving restaurant. A full revolution takes c.48 minutes by which time you will have eaten your fill and enjoyed the 360 degree views...of the neighbouring mountains and beyond. We chose the buffet option at CHF 35 per head, which included drinks and a wide selection of food choices; there was something for all culinary tastes.

We had the brunch and it is a good value considering that this is in a tourist spot. It has a lot of options and the view is stunning.
