677 labels itself as a fine dining experience. We have been here in the past and it was a fine dining experience. However, our recent visit was not so fine. I started with lobster bisque and my dining companion had the wagyu beef tartare. I have had lobster bisque in many fine dining restaurants and can usually find some lobster in the serving even if just a garnish. Not this time. The wagyu beef was served with toast slices that were very thick, not slices of a nice baguette. A rough start but the entree was next. My wife and I enjoyed a meal at 677 Prime that I would describe as an unparalleled dining experience. Our server Joe was a consummate professional while maintaining a friendly, affable demeanor and was exceptionally knowledgeable about all aspects of the dining experience. Though he was our main server, it was very clear that the rest of the staff was equally skilled and passionate about providing memorable, skillful service. We took my brother inlaw and his wife for dinner. I was bragging to them all week that we were taking them for a special dinner to a great restaurant. The experience was not as good as the past. Our waiter was very attentive. The appetizers were great. Our entrees were a mixed bag. My wife liked her scallops and my sister-in-law really like her fish. My brother-in-law order the chicken and it was dry. My $85 ribeye needed seasoning and was bland, I had to ask for salt. I should have sent back but always feel uncomfortable doing that unless under or overcooked. I do not like writing negative reviews, however when a restaurant is charging prices as high or higher than the best New York City steakhouses, something must be said. I had the cowboy ribeye. It was possibly the worst steak I have ever had in a restaurant. The quality of the meat was terrible incredibly tough and tasteless. There is absolutely no excuse for that, with what this restaurant is charging. I also had the Caesar salad, which again was probably the worst I have ever had. Our first time here. We were not disappointed. Food was perfect, service was awesome. Only real complaint is we were seated next to the piano player but he was good! Just made it hard to talk. But compared to some of the high end steak houses I have been to in NYC this place does great. I have a dairy allergy and the chef made my food delicious without the butter, which is tough to do sometimes. I give it a 9.5/10
We just celebrated our 31st anniversary at 677 Prime, and as usual it was fantastic. The excellent service starts the moment you enter the door and continues all through out the dinner. The food was amazing, and cooked to perfection. This was our 3rd anniversary in a row that we have spent at 677 Prime. There is no reason to go anywhere else! The only issues is the cost, but it's worth it for a special occasion.
I knew that the Prime was expensive, but my bill was over $600 for four people. We ordered the seafood tower (which is overprized for what you get, but looks pretty), 3 steaks, the seabass, two sides and a cake for dessert. There were no alcoholic beverages purchased. If the food was amazing, I could maybe justify that cost; however, it was just okay. I do not recommend.
Fantastic meal. Every recommendation that our amazing server Jeana gave us was right on. Delicious and beautifully presented. Everyone was attentive especially the manager and Jeana.
