Chose this restaurant as it was near our hotel and had good reviews on trip adviser. It was a bitterly cold evening and so the warm, cosy, intimate atmosphere was particularly inviting. We were the first diners in but it still had loads of atmosphere. The service was excellent and friendly. I can recommend the scotch egg with smoked salmon which was delicious. We are fish eaters so we didn't sample any of the meat dishes. I had grilled plaice and my husband had monkfish, both dishes were top quality. The bar upstairs is also great for a drink or get-together with the same intimate atmosphere and friendly service. Try it if you are in Edinburgh's West End. You won't be disappointed!
We had been to a room in leith so fancied trying the sister restaurant. It did not disappoint. Excellent seasonal menu. Food was wonderful. Cosy wee alcove table was romantic. My fish was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were sooooo tasty! My partner's shoulder of hoggett was melt in the mouth tender beautifully seasoned. Having had a starter of delicious puy lentil soup we had no room for dessert. Was very quie when we left but it was a sunday night.
Great food and great service. We were seated in one of the cozy alcoves, which worked well for us. We got plenty of attention from the servers even though they were dealing with two large parties at the same time. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We were there on a very sunny afternoon So restaurant was not busy nevertheless it was enjoyable VFM with discrete but attentive staff
