TLDR; An excellent place to try out Eritean food at a very reasonable price. It is worth a visit even if the menu is a little confusing. This was my first time trying Eritrean food and it did not disappoint. Food is served on a giant platter designed for sharing. This mean you get a good variety and is almost like a tasting menu. We had meat option for a meal for 4. It included 8 different dishes all served on a giant platter. This was accompanied by baskets of pancakes which is used to pick up and wrap the food from the sharing plate. The slow cooked lamb and shrimps were particularly delicious. An unimposing location and frontage secrete a superlative Eritrean restaurant serving top quality food. The interior features an array of carved wooden figures and musical instruments. Diners are afforded plenty of space in the capacious seating areas. Friendly and welcoming staff attend to both new and regular customers with advice on menu items where sought. The main menu offers diners a mix of sharing and single person dishes and whilst showcasing the best in freshly prepared Eritrean dishes is not overwhelming. The pudding menu was limited, however the cheesecake, which was available, was exactly what a cheesecake should be in its traditional form. I look forward to a return visit.

The foods itself were great. Full of flavour and great quality. The place is big and it seems clean. The foods quality, i would say 4 stars or even 5. However the service was very poor. We arrived at 6pm and were the first table. But our foods were served the last after 5 other tables were served. It seems like there was a table that was waitress’ friends. The waitress was very busy serving them and talking to that table… we also asked the waitress for more explanation the recommendation as we were not too familiar with the dishes. She was not very helpful… and rushed us to make an order… we will go back again and hope the service would be improved!

First time experiencing Eritrean food, but it seemed to be similar to Ethiopian food I’ve had and I was highly pleased! The price was fantastic and came to less than £20 for a starter and main and tea, staff were attentive and happy to advise on what to have, food came quickly, was presented really well and each item has different flavours and textures, it was highly enjoyable and left feeling stuffed!! The tea made me incredibly sleepy. Would be happy to go back. Not sure if the injera is made fresh because it’s identical to other places I’ve eaten. Reserva una mesa ahora

First thing first, it is just 5 minutes from oval tube station. East African restaurant, the Ambiance is quite vintage and very pleasant. The food is authentic, though I tried it for first time(ordered vegan). You find find good wine here. Good for couples and family both. Service is good. A little costly but value exceeds cost.

Go here for something different. Eritrean food is so tasty and this restaurant offers good value and a pleasant atmosphere. Very friendly staff too. Love the idea of sharing the food. Been here twice now and it’s never disappointing. One I would recommend!!

The place is beautiful and well presented. However, the food is not at a good standard for Eritrean people. If you want to enjoy the atmosphere, this is the place to be. If you want to enjoy good Eritrean food, this is not the place to be.

I really enjoyed this food. Everything was tasty and this Ethiopian bread is very unique. Be warned that the spice level is quite high. I hadn't eaten spicy in a while and some of the food was a bit too hot for me. Reserva una mesa ahora

Amazing food!! We ordered the meat/veg mini combo for two and honey wine and we were absolutely stuffed!! I also couldn't pick a favorite dish from the assortment if you asked me as they all were tasty!

Wonderful experience at Adulis. Food was amazing, textures and consistencies were great and very good injera. The waiter guy was also very welcoming, gracious and informative.
