Convenient but Inconsistent. We have ordered from The After Char Broil quite a few times (for take out where sometimes the order is accurate and sometimes not or sometimes they add a side of coleslaw and pickles and sometimes not (maybe it depends upon the menu item I have no clue . The Salmon burger is very tasty on some kind of a whole grain bun with lettuce and tomato (again, sometimes they would charge for a platter without asking and then not include french fries or may include fries Strange.... The salad is a decent size for the price (large even though they only list ONE tossed salad on the menu apparently they have 2 sizes It's only iceberg lettuce no dark leafy greens shredded purpl...
The After is an excellent family restaurant! We’ve been visiting since we moved to Flanders, and even now that my kids are in college, it remains a top choice for them whenever they come home. Over the years, we’ve tried nearly everything on the menu! Some of our favorites include the Reubens, the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, and the Philly steaks. They offer a wonderful selection of homemade soups and salads, and I especially love the coleslaw! If you don’t see something on the menu, just ask, and they’ll do their best to prepare it for you. The prices for breakfast omelets are unbeatable as well. I highly recommend The After—I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident while heading home from a visit to Chester. As an interracial couple, we felt a bit uneasy at first, but we decided to stay for the food. We ordered ice cream, and I must say, it was fantastic! We're big fans of ice cream, and compared to Cold Stone and Applegate, their creations really held their own—creamy, flavorful, and served in generous portions. We'll definitely be stopping by for ice cream all year round. The inconsistency with the food might stem from the fact that the staff seemed quite young and perhaps a bit hungry themselves (just a hunch).
Although I don’t live nearby, I stumbled upon this restaurant during my trip and decided to give it a try for lunch. It has the charm of a beloved local spot—classic yet cozy. There’s no waitstaff; you have to order at the counter. The menuboard behind the counter is quite large, so I didn't go through every item, but the prices seemed reasonable. Since they offer breakfast all day, I opted for the scrapple and eggs platter. It was quite good, comparable to some of the better diners in New Jersey.

Reminds me of the spots dad would take me to after a little league game. Maybe thats where the name came from? Anyways, a cool throwback roadside spot with tables inside and picnic seating in the lot. Ice Cream window separate from the grill area. Great fried chicken and onion rings, good burgers and sandwiches...and lots of ice cream choices for dessert. Fun family spot...especially in warmer months.
The After is one of those guilty pleasures you just have to have every once in a while. It does give you a nostalgic feel from your childhood. It has also been nice to eat outside under the trees. My personal favorite would be the corn poppers, my goodness soooo good.
The food was really good. And I loved the atmosphere. Old school American restaurant. The gorgeous red head was very helpful I'm helping me pick my meal. I love very far so I'm not sure when I'll be back but one thing is for certain. I won't soon forget this place.
As a long-time customer, I can say that this restaurant has a friendly owner and staff. It's a fantastic option for breakfast, lunch, or snacks. A staple in the neighborhood, it's a beloved local business. The homemade soups are definitely a standout feature!

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Good food and value. First visit and I had the cheddar burger and chili cheese dog. Better than average quality and taste. Very casual atmosphere. Will definitely return.
