Fantastic meal at Headlam Hall Hotel. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our meals. The Orangery dining room is a lovely backdrop for the food that was well presented, exceptionally tasty and, unlike many meals out these days, well portioned. The menu certainly lives up to the claim of Modern British cooking using locally sourced ingredients. My Tandoori lamb scotch egg starter was very flavoursome, a great combination... and even had a runny yolk! Both mains (belly pork/fillet of beef) tasted great, and the meats were succulent. Staff and service very good. Was slightly disappointed with food. Goats cheese starter was straight from cheese, huge slab of cheese plonked on top of base, too cold to taste. Sent cheese board back as cheese was freezing and needed to breath and be served warmer. Steak very tasty, homemade chips would have been nice.
Small varied menu which I prefer. The meal was beautifully presented with great service. Enjoyable evening. My partner is not too impressed with the beer/ale choices which is the only criticism.
Great value of money for the level of service! Had a very romantic midweek dinner out at Headlam Hall. The food was delicious, as were the cocktails, would recommend to anyone.

Couldn’t believe how busy it was for a Tuesday night. Tried food that I’d never had before it was absolutely delicious . Would certainly recommend dining here . A hidden gem .
Two course lunch menu. The four dishes were excellent. Service likewise. Good value, except for being charged £8.80 for a pint and a half of soda water.

Food was OK but no more than that. Service in bar area was outstanding but well below that in dining room.
