When I walked in the hostess was on the phone. I spoke she continued with her conversation and never acknowledged I was standing in front of her or spoke to her. It was our first time to Ahso. We went there as my son asked to take him to an Italian restaurant on his birthday. So we searched online for a fine Italian restaurant and looked at their menu and decided to go for dinner on Friday. The waiter gave us a menu that is completely different from their online dinner menu. I feel so fortunate to live a stone's throw away from this gem of a restaurant. We moved to Brambleton Town Center in 2021, but with the pandemic still hovering, we just made our way back to Ahso today. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, able to guide us through the options based on her own experience. Ahso is easily the finest restaurant in Loudoun County. Yes, I said it. We've tried haute cuisine from DC through Fairfax, and been consistently underwhelmed with tasteless food at absurd prices. But Ahso gives us hope. Their fixed price menu, which we enjoyed for our Thursday night for our anniversary (we used to regularly haunt the Ashby Inn in Paris, VA, but no more) was superb. I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could. My wife and I sat at the bar to order dinner, and we were shocked to see a cook walking from the kitchen to the bar area with a pot of sauce, stirring it as he walked. He then tasted it and put the spoon back into the pot. I immediately asked to speak with the manager, and while I was relaying what I had seen, he did the same thing again in front of me and the manager. As a fellow owner in the food industry, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I would recommend going to this restaurant at your own risk.
Wouldn't recommend, especially not for vegetarians. Went there with a group on a Wednesday night so not overly crowded, but service was very slow. Got a beet and arugula salad that was small but tasty. Ordered a vegetarian dish for my main course with polenta and veggies that had little or no polenta and very few veggies swimming in a buttery brown sauce. Not tasty and barely enough for an appetizer. Won't be going back.
Our experience at this restaurant was superb. We hosted a bachelorette dinner on a calm Tuesday evening and were thrilled to have been given a private room. This gave us the opportunity to have a great time, play our games, and savor each other's company in privacy. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were divine.
