I really wanted to like this restaurant because on the surface it looks cute and arty and there aren't many places like that in South El Monte. But I got food poisoning. Once you start to look closer, there are a lot of things wrong with this place. It's very dingy and dirty: the menus were sticky, the syrup bottle was sticky all over showing that it's not regularly cleaned up to standard, the booth's backing were dirty, the inside of the windows weren't cleaned, the restroom hallway was dirty, and the tablecloths were dirty underneath the white drawing paper. These are all things that kept running through my head as I felt sick. If this is what they want the customer experience to be like,...
Leaving this review to say how much I love this spot! Cannot go wrong with anything. Here’s a list of what I’ve had and always recommend: Geckos Pasta, Cilantro Pesto Pasta, Chicken Tortilla Soup, Carne asada, Tacos De Alambre, Chilaquiles Verdes and pancakes con cajeta y café de olla. I moved states and returned this was one of the first spots I had to go back to. Doesn’t disappoint. Just wish they were on a food delivery site so I can still enjoy their food.
Nothing disappointed!!!Mole enchiladas,The geikos pasta omg delicious!!!!I had it with tortilla soup and that was soooooo delicious too!!! Also comes with a garlic bread, it’s so soft and crunchy! And actually taste like a garlic bread should!I enjoyed the food so much I didn’t even bother to take a picture.I highly recommend this place!!!!
Excellent food, good atmosphere, very cordial and friendly owners. Service is a bit slow since everything is prepared on the spot, but very much worth the wait. Phone in your order before coming in to avoid the wait if you're on a tight schedule. Their huevos rancheros are outstanding. Strongly recommended!
The food here is the real deal. I ordered two crunchy shredded beef tacos with rice and beans and my son had steak fajitas. Everything was so flavorful. We hadn’t had food this good since my grandma would cook for us. Bomb, 5-stars for the authenticity and flavor. A real gem in the SGV.
The server which I believe is the owner as well is extremely rude not welcoming at all. I have been visiting this restaurant for years never dealt with her before. She was really dry and didn’t even greet us. Food was salty and $5 for fountain soda?! Sorry not worth the hassle.
