If you are easily amused and think that Arabic music and Middle Eastern decor can take away from the below mediocre food here, then I highly suggest this place. I ate here in 2010 and I recall it being pretty good. We were in the area this weekend and stopped in. The tzatziki was runny and flavorless. The yellow rice was bland despite the awesome attempt at putting what may have been spaghetti sauce on it. The chicken shawarma platter was a good size portion and tasty but oily. I had the Schwarma Chicken pita, which is served with a good sized scoop of Yellow rice (turmeric, I think, not Saffron). The salad is included in the lunch special. Others in my party had gyros, and chicken. They have a variety of menu items including shish-kabob, and even salmon. Of course, they have a wide offering of deserts from Baklava to cheesecake and Tiramisu. Prices were not at all as high as I expected after a several-years absence. As I recall, their Hummus is excellent, but do not gamble on my feeble memory. Parking can be a challenge, and the rear entrance is technically handicap accessible, but is quite a challenge for someone using a walker.
We had not gone to Aladdin for some time, but ended up there last week. What a nice change! The waiter was polished and pleasant, the menu was much upgraded as far as presentation (simpler, new, laminated... , and the food was great! We enjoyed the new salad dressing, the lentil soup, the seafood kebabs, and the vegetarian platter... everything was fresh and tasty, and the uneven food of the past was gone! Not sure if there is a new cook, or a new manager, or what, but BRAVO! Highly recommended!
Our first visit was because we had planned a trip to visit Jordan and was curious what to expect. Now that we visited Jordan for a couple of weeks we are even more impressed. Has all the vibe you would find in Amman. The dinner special included melt-in-your mouth tender lamb shank with rice, lentil soup or salad for $14.99. The lamb was more tender than any we ate in Jordan. Wonderful change of pace. We live a distance from Lawrence but YES, we will return...

Went back to Aladdin Cafe, and very much enjoyed it. The kababs were fresh and nicely prepared... the meat was very tasty, and wonderfully presented. The petra platter was very tasty... love the combination of hummos with the tasty chicken. The rosewater lemonade was fresh, the cinnamon tea was great. The baklava was good, but perhaps a bit on the dry side. But a great lunch! The waiter (tall, young guy) was very pleasant and capable. First rate.
Everything we had was good but I will come back for the Raja Dip. It’s feta, Parmesan, cream cheese, walnuts and olive oil. It’s served with fried pita and the combination is out of this world. We also had the vegetarian combo and the lentil soup. The only thing I didn’t care for was the Krass pastry.
We opted to try the Aladdin as was well recommended by friends since we love Mediterranean food. The Aladdin did not disappoint! The humus was the best we’ve had and now I’m craving it as I write this. We’ve been twice already and everything we’ve tried has been fabulous!
Authentic Middle Eastern food, generous portions, attentive waitstaff. The rose lemonade is a refreshing delight don't miss it! The house dressing on the Greek salad is really delicious. I'll be back for the Sunday buffet.

One of our favorite Lawrence restaurants. Excellent service. Owner/chef is on duty to prepare authentic dishes. Sunday buffet. Easy access, fast and efficient service. Attractive ambience.
Tabouli salad was 90% parsley and was missing bulgar. Understaffed and no ambiance. I know this place but it’s slipping
