Mediocre and expensive. Having lived in this area since 2013, I 've eaten my share of roti, curry and j at Alberts and its time to finally call it out for what it is, which is OK caribbean cuisine that 's overly expensive. I grew up in a Trinidadian household and this doesn 't hold a candle to that, and I don 't expect it to, I just want it to give me a quick fix for when that craving kicks in at a reasonable price. That 's where it all falls down for me.Last night, the craving hit for a chicken roti on the way home from work. You can only pay in CASH at Alberts and there 's a $3.50 service for when you use Alberts or any of the nearby ATM 's, my Chicken Roti costs $12.50, so I pay with a twe...

Was craving patties one day, so I did a quick Google search to see if I could find a Jamaican restaurant nearby, and that's how I found this place. The first thing to know is that it's cash only. This always annoys me, but I digress.Second thing: One of the reasons I chose this place is because from what I could tell, it is black owned. Yes, I do my best to support black owned business any time I can. So I was surprised because while the lady working the front, as well as a man whom I assume is Albert, are both black...I noticed the employees in the kitchen are Asian. I've never seen Asian chefs in a Jamaican restaurant, so I was a little taken aback by that because I had to ask myself if thi...
Hadn't been here in YEARS. Tried it again recently and wish I hadn't even bothered. Should've just stayed away. Back in the day, Albert's had some of the best Caribbean Food around. Going back this time tells me that they either changed cooks or they've gotten lazy and just don't care anymore. The food was stale and flavorless. There was more gravy and rice than actual meat. The fried chicken was so so DRY and had no seasoning. The oxtail was mostly bones and like I said, there was more gravy and rice than anything else. They charge way too much for what you get and the quality of what you get.Waste of money. Food was just too nasty to eat and was thrown in the trash.Save your money! Go elsewher...
I don’t live in Toronto, but I come about once a year and Albert’s has been a part of my trip for as long as I can remember. The food is homey and delicious and hasn’t disappointed me one time in my whole entire life (I will say that my staple is the j chicken combo and I do not frequently venture beyond). Albert is the warmest, kindest human. His place is iconic, and I’m so glad it survived the pandemic. If you’re looking to support small, fabulous businesses run by wonderful people, let Albert’s be one of those. You’ll have great food while you’re at it. Reserva una mesa ahora
If you haven't tried Albert's, you're sleeping! I've tried countless Jamaican and Caribbean restaurants in my life, but let me tell you, this is the real deal and the most delicious. Just their rice and peas with gravy alone is enough to give a 10/10. The oxtail is incredible, stew chicken, and jerk chicken of course. All very good. The coleslaw is a bit too sweet here for my liking, but its a nice balance with the spicy and well seasoned meats still. Also, do yourself a favour and get a patty. Thank me later!
Kept hearing how this Legendary spot was the truth. It just didn 't compare to the Caribbean food in Scarborough and I 've eaten in bare spots. I give credit to the oxtail as that was the best out of the j chicken and pork that we ordered. Service was surprisingly good
Bought jerk chicken, coconut bread, festivals, patties, fried plaintains. Sad to say, but it was all just meh. I had such high hopes. The service was really really good though. Some of the best service I've had in a long long time. The atmosphere is nice as well.
Saw the reviews on this place so we decided to try it the rice was okay chicken was standard nothing special at all . I felt sick after eating .........?? Reserva una mesa ahora
Roti and Jerk Pork sandwich were great. I will make sure to get some spice next time but otherwise taste and flavours were really good.
