Alfonso's - Reserva de mesa

My wife and I have been going to Alfonso's once or twice a month for the last couple of years. The fish has always been perfectly cooked and the chips have always been perfect too. Until last night that is. Alfonso's son didn't appear to be around last night. It was someone different frying last night. When we arrived at 16.50 they had ran out of chips and were cooking more. I've never known them to run out this early in the day. We ordered our usual 2x fish suppers. The fish was overcooked and greasy and the chips were undercooked, hard and greasy. We won't be there again unless the usual fryer is cooking.

I work at Borders General Hospital and my schedule doesn't always align with the restaurant's hours, but I was able to visit this fantastic place on August 6th. I was the first customer and ordered the delicious Spicy Pizza Calzone and freshly made chips from the menu. The food was amazing and the server even gave me a five minute heads up while I waited in my car. Overall, the food was great, the staff were excellent, and the place was spotless. This is definitely my top choice for takeout in the Scottish Borders. Steve Dunn Woop Woop

Make sure you have what you asked for before you leave. Staff either had their ears painted on or just didn't care. Not even with an Edinburgh accent would a chicken breast supper sound like chicken steaks! We were already part way up the road home when we stopped to eat and discovered we had the wrong thing. Won't be visiting there again!

My Wife and I had a takeaway from Alfonsos during a recent trip to the Borders and it was the best fish and chips we've had in a long time. I'm glad we bought a bottle of their sauce as we used it through the rest of our road-trip. Delicious!! Highly Recommended!! Reserva una mesa ahora

No complaints on the standard of food. Good fish n chips. The problem with this place is the wait. Every time I have been here, there is always a lengthy wait for either fish or chips.

The wait to order can sometimes be long, but it is worth it for the excellent quality of the fish and chips. The wait is a good sign of a good chippy, in my opinion. Delicious!

My family really enjoys Alfonzo's fish and chips. The food is always fresh and delicious. Our Saturday night tradition of getting chippy is something my kids look forward to.

Absolutely fabulous staff extremely efficient massive range of choice on offer and looked very nice. The fish and chips was very well cooked and tasty

Don't bother. We both had fish and chips tonight. Horrible soggy chips and a very small piece of fish for £20. What a waste of money.
