Al's Gyros Chicago's Finest

Used to love this place, food was always good, never an issue there. Brought friends here as well as family, also highly recommended to colleagues at work.Unfortunately had to give the place up, due to their unpredictable opening hours. Too many times, we show up nearly an hour before posted closing only to find them in cleanup mode. Incredible cleaning solution stink, no way to enjoy the food like that. I 'm talking 7:15 here, not 7:45, which I 'd have understood.Likewise, I could no longer stomach getting the riot act from the staff for showing up 35 to 45 before closing. Fifteen minutes? This Greek, Chicago, Mediterranean is as good as it gets. My wife had the Chicago gyros with salad. I had the Steak Shawarma Plate, including rice , pita bread, and tzatziki sauce. Both were outstanding and fairly priced. $7.99 for the gyro and $13.99 for the shawarma plate. Both were more food than we could eat at one sitting. Salads were very fresh. The meat was done just like in Greece ! I also had the garlic sauce with mine. All the sauces are freshly made. While I ended up taking much of mine home, I also ordered the cilantro jalapeno hummus with pitas and baklava to take home. Everything is very flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I absolutely love Al's Gyros! Such good food, and great service. I ordered catering for a party and everyone raved about it. One recommendation for catering the portions are enormous! After ordering for and feeding 30 people we have about 10 meals we froze for our family of 4 lucky us!Food: 5/5
