My daughters review is "if you want really little food, go there". The children's menu offered fries options only except the pasta with tomato sauce. Trying to opt out of the fries diet, we got rösti and a small sausage. Hearing a 9 year old laugh at the presentation for the first time shows more matureness than the chef. Some exotic thinking was presented by inserting a lollipop into the sausage... I had a Jägerschnitzel which was not exciting at all.
Had a wonderful evening here. Food was fab well cooked and presented well. Our waiter was great and the Chef came to our table at the end of the night and we were very please to congratulate her on the wonderful meal. I recommend...the steaks and also the weiner schnitzel was not dry at all. The dining room was attractive and we were intrigued by the ancient snuff machine. We had a great night here and I would recommend it
We stayed on a half board basis in the hotel. We had choice of 2 main dishes every night. The 5 course menu consisted of a starter, soup, self serve salad buffet, main course, plus desert. All were very nice and plentiful. We saw non...residents eat off the A La Carte menu and all meals looked delicious and very substantial portions. The restaurant was busy every night with a great atmosphere, I think that says it all.

Nice little family run business. We found it by accident when searching for a place to eat. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children, found a table without reservation. The food was good and so was the ambient. At the end we...were a bit rushed as the place was full and others were coming, but overall a good place to eat
My father and I ate there every night after trying two other places and realising Alte Schmied is the best restaurant in Wagrain. The staff are so friendly and the food was delicious. They had lot of choice but I really loved their traditional Austrian dishes like goulash, schnitzel and both the topfen- and apfelstrudel.
