My wife and I visited the Altes Holztor on a Monday and were disappointed that it was closed. Our first meal there was on Tuesday night, and we have been back Wednesday night, and Thursday night. The menu is extensive featuring a combination of Italian and German dishes. The meals are superb and very reasonably priced. As soon as one walks in the front door, one is enveloped by the warm, inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has many cozy corners where one can relax and enjoy a wonderful meal. The waitstaff is attentive and most helpful in making menu suggestions. After the second night, my wife and I felt like family. We are now here the second time in 3 weeks to crown a beautiful day of excursion with a delicious dinner at reasonable prices. We were not disappointed again, but enjoyed a very tasty pizza and a side salad A puncture, since this time the salad was delivered very late and with separate but tasty dressing. It tasted very good again. The wine is also according to our taste. We like the atmosphere in the courtyard, even if there are more beautiful places. We're coming back! Little minus point is that you hear the road. That didn't bother us. We can only recommend it. Reservation is highly recommended!

Yesterday the first time there and it was TOP, 5 stars are not enough!!! 1: very friendly reception 2: fast beverage and food order 3: fast beverage and food delivery 4: bread and garlic butter as a free service 5: All three services are very friendly, everyone is there for all guests! 6: Super quality of food and drinks 7: Very cozy ambience, no traffic noise, quiet guests 8: wide choice of food and drinks at fair prices Conclusion: This will be my favorite beer garden, even if I have to drive 11 km! I loved this place. I got here around 13:30 and they close at 14:00 for mid-day break. Even though I was a bit late and speak only English, the service was excellent. I had a simple pasta dish that was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Wine recommendation was spot on.I was not rushed at all. We visited or dinner on 2 August as a family. There were many reserved tables and we chose one unreserved table in the middle of the courtyard. The waiter did not want us sitting there and tried to put us off in a corner or by the entrance. He told us he wanted only "couples" sitting there despite there being plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children. We did not eat there and this is not recommended for a family if this is their policy.

With two families we were able to eat lunch on weekends without booking with the necessary timely distance and in the still well visited village. The service was super nice and friendly and the food was very delicious. The pizza had a pretty thick floor perfect. The noodles and the other dishes were also great.

Wonderful food, interesting atmosphere, and fantastic waitstaff. I have been here multiple times and keep going back. The food is always good and the restaurant is always busy! Definitely try it out for some good Italian food with a bit of a German twist
