As someone from the U.K. where chip shops are abundant, there is a certain standard expected for what makes a good chip and this restaurant exceeded all expectations. It is the closest to a British chip shop that we found while on holiday and definitely the best chip shop we visited. The fish was excellent, even better than the battered cod back home. It is made with a gummy fish (shark) that is delicious and flakes beautifully. I highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those on holiday craving a classic fish and chip supper. I've often bought ice cream from next door (same owners) and yesterday we thought we would try some fish and chips as the ice creamery is great.The fish looked like it was cooked on the outside but it was undercooked in the centre. After almost throwing up we threw it away. I haven't felt well today and I only ate one bite. They probably cooked the butterfish from frozen hence the outside (batter was golden brown) giving the impression it was cooked.Simply put, I can't believe that they don't realize how dangerous it is to not properly thaw out what they are cooking. Their lack of understanding of safe food handling practices cannot be forgivenNever again!

Great family run business by the beach, there can be a long wait in the summer months so might be best to call ahead. The seafood is fresh and the chips are fat, crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. They take their time to deliver consistently. Oh and the burgers are delicious. I brought some foreign guests here for their first taste of fish and chips. We ordered our grilled flake and sat at the table and chairs in the shade outside, overlooking the beach and bay beyond. Our fish was of generous proportions, well cooked, inexpensive, and came with a piece of lemon and a fork to eat with. It was one of the best I have had. As the swans flew past I joked to my friend that he was now a man eating shark.

Love stopping by in summer and ordering a double header licorice waffle cone at this shop, then going across the road and finding a table and chair to sit and watch the day's activities Along the esplanade and on the water, very relaxing just kicking back and watching what's going on around oneself

Love the Fish ' n ' chips from Altona Beach Bites. We will drive 20 mins from another suburb to enjoy this by the beach. I love the grilled fish & the potato cakes are the best I have eaten. My partner has difficulty choosing from the extensive menu which includes 'Kiwi faves'.
