"While looking on Trip Advisor for a good restaurant in Speyer, we noticed this highly rated one had reviews only from locals. Thinking it might be a hidden gem, we went a little off the beaten path to this wonderful restaurant situated on a small lake a mere 6 km north of Speyer. It was well worth the short drive as the lovely setting was matched by excellent food. We were there in late October but can easily imagine how nice it would be to dine on the terrace overlooking the lake. The five course meal we enjoyed was wonderful from the tasty soup starter to the decadent dessert finish, all paired perfectly with wines on recommendations from the chef. Not only can you get traditional German cuisine, the menu offers some modern takes on some of the classics. If you are craving a perfectly cooked steak and roast potatoes, it's on the menu too. The portions are generous and beautifully presented. This young chef, who we had the pleasure of meeting, has a real passion for great food and a talent for balancing and combining tastes and textures. There is no doubt that we would return to this restaurant should we find ourselves in the Speyer area again."
