Really wanted to give this place a shot since it had such positive reviews. Our experience was not to be on Christmas eve and unfortunately we had to walk out and seek a holiday dinner seating elsewhere We arrived at our reservation time and we surprised at how tiny the place actually is, maybe tables at most. Regardless of specifics, there were male kids acting as waiters, no bus boy clearing tables and an older man acting as owner, host, maitre d, waiter, bartender and who knows what else. We waited minutes unattended at the seat bar and saw and heard all we needed before we decided to go elsewhere. Hot tip: if taking reservations on a holiday, you better have staff working that can handle...
The decor is absolutely stunning, the staff are the best people you will ever meet. This is one of my favorite hidden gems in Long Island. As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by two older gentlemen with big smiles on their faces. The way they interact with the guests is amazing, it truly feels like you are at home (or at your Italian grandparents' house when the whole family is over).
Very small restaurant. It was a one man show on a Saturday night, he did everything from bartender to waiter to busboy to host. Only help he had was in the kitchen. If you have extra time to spare the food is actually pretty good. The veal chop was great the stuffed mushrooms special was really good too. Do yourself a favor skip the baked clams. First time going I'd go back again.
I really enjoyed the food and would happily return. The only negative is that the restaurant is a bit small. That does make it cozy and warm, but it also puts you in close proximity to other tables. While the people sitting next to us were very friendly, I would have preferred that the hostess would consider separating people better before seating them so close to each other.

This quaint and romantic neighborhood restaurant has tables situated close together. While it could use some refurbishing due to signs of wear and tear, our experience was positive with very good food and service.
I usually eat at Antonette's on Sunday afternoons. I went on a Thursday evening...and experienced the same friendly and very enjoyable service as usual.
Everything at the restaurant was excellent - the food, drinks, and service. They even had a live band for Valentine's Day.

Needs updating. Dark curtains; dingy. Circa Small. Staff attentive but place needs an overhaul.
