Araxi is hands down, one of Whistler's most elevated fine dining experiences. Expect to drop some coin here, it doesn't come cheap.Billed as a seafood restaurant, Araxi seems to specialize in oysters, shellfish, and fish plates but it does sport a few interesting game meat dishes as well. Perhaps of all menu items, the Seafood Tower is one of the most beloved. It has a suitable variety of shrimp, oysters, sashimi style items, and various other accoutrements. We ordered this for a group of 5, and it simply wasn't enough. Accidentally found this restaurant while wandering around looking for some food other than pub style fried food. Stopped in at 4:30, dinner service did not start till 5 PM. We ordered a few small bites while waiting for the dinner menu. We were seated outside and it quickly became evident that the sun setting would be too intense for our liking. Our first waiter Ross, quickly found us an outside table that would remain in the shade. Our second waiter, Anthony was equally as efficient and professional. Very fancy restaurant I went to with some investors!Good: The corn soup was amazing! It was also poured right in front of you so it was fresh SUPER GOOD oyster tower! I loved how fresh the seafood was and it came with some sushi and some other great seafood appetizers like seaweed salad The mushroom risotto was AMAZING and I loved the texture and the way it smelled too Service was top tier here too! Fantastic dining experience. Wonderful for date night. Sashimi starter was fresh melt in your mouth, gnocchi was amazing, our two starters the venison and the tenderloin were perfection. Service, wine/drinks and ambiance were also fantastic. My single issue and why I detracted a start is realizing they charged us for “still” water (I assume it was bottled) without telling us that there was a tap water option which was frankly bizarre and here we were thinking that we were chugging tap water and seeing the 9 dollars on the bill was kind of odd as I haven’t seen that before. In the heart of the village you will find this excellent fine dining experience. We started with fresh oysters that were outstanding. Andy, our wonderful waiter then recommended a seafood trio that was creative and a great starter. We then shared the Miso Sablefish, which was a wonderful seared white fish in a beautiful miso broth. Very unique and exceptional.
