I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The staff was exceptionally friendly, not just to me but to every customer at the counter, even in the sweltering 92°F heat. They took my order with a smile and engaged in conversation with those picking up their food. I've only visited twice, but both times were delightful. Just a quick note: this place only accepts cash, but the delicious puffed tacos make the trip well worth it! I ordered 2 Carne Asada and 2 Carnitas to-go and enjoyed them back home with some refreshing hard apple cider and ginger ale from my fridge. *sip* Ahhh.
This place is a childhood favorite from back when they were located in La Habra on Imperial Blvd over 40yrs ago. We now live out in Riverside but still make the drive about every month or so for the 1 of a kind Puffy Tacos. There?s nothing like them with all their overfilled goodness. Only 2 locations exist, so you got to try this one unless you want to travel to Texas. Hopefully we?ll make it out there someday to try their location with the Cantina!!
Gotta try the Puffy Tacos! They come out hot in temperature and fresh as can be. I recommend getting the Strips Texanas (chips with blended guac, cheese and salsa) to accompany the meal. Plus you can use the strips to pick up the droppings from these messy tacos. Make sure to bring cash! This is a CASH ONLY establishment. I recommend a minimum of $10 per person. I drove an hour to try this Southern California treat, well worth the LA traffic.
This is Tex-Mex at its best, everyone, and the flavors are simply wonderful. Be sure to try the two puffy taco combo (their recommended fillings of Guizada and Picadillo are excellent choices), and don't miss out on their homemade lemonade—you can thank me later! This is a cozy spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. My sister encouraged me to try the puffy tacos, and I'm so glad she did! I absolutely loved them. My favorites were the carne asada and the ground beef.

Very good tacos! Tried a few but the saucy beef one was the star! A bit far to travel for me otherwise I?d come often! About $3.50 a piece!
