Gaststätte Atschel

We took the train from Berlin to Frankfurt to catch our flight back to the United States which was early the next morning. We were therefore only in Frankfurt for just over 12 hours and wanted to get one last traditional german meal in. After checking TripAdvisor, I found two restaurants (the number 1 restaurant) and Atschel (which was number 8 (now 7) out of 2000+ restaurants in Frankfurt). We asked the hotel to make a reservation but since the first restaurant did not pick up the phone (they had just opened at 5pm), we went with Atschel as they answered the phone (as they're open for lunch as well). The food was a sensation! Heavenly feast with great Bembel (apple wine) which makes the combo even more exceptional. We ordered the Haxe (pork knuckle) and the Schäufelchen (pork shoulder). The restaurant has an old school German look and feel, so be prepared to share a table if you are less than a party of 6 people. Regardless, with apple wine flowing from pitchers combined with plates of butchers cuts, this is a MUST. I would recommend to order a table but if you are 2 or 3 people just swing by unannounced, and be seated with others at a table listening to the magpie chirp every few minutes throughout the restaurant chatter.

Hatten ohne Reservierung noch einen Platz für 2 bekommen. Service Kräfte alle wirklich sehr nett. Der Laden war voll! Essen war super lecker und Preis Leistung top. Das abkassieren war etwas durcheinander, da Getränke auf unserer Rechnung standen die wir nicht hatten, aber nach kurzem besprechen der Bedienung, war das Problem schnell beseitigt.

I'm not a native German but I've been living here long enough to know the difference between a freshly cooked Schnitzel and something that was stored waiting to be warmed up and served. Also, the Frankfurter Schnitzel comes with Bratkartoffeln and not Pommes (as in fried). Terrible service, dirty tables and loud. Won't come back. Reserva una mesa ahora

Zum ersten Mal am Montag in der Atschel gewesen. Was soll ich sagen, es war alles fein. Super junges nettes Team, wir bekamen noch Plätze im gemütlichen Garten. Essen typisch frankfurterrisch, rustikal, gute Portionen und super lecker. Ich werde wiederkommen.

Our dinner was flawless. Large, well portioned meals with great flavour parings. Service was spot on! With the staff working flat out in a full house they were cheerful, friendly and efficient. Best schnitty of my life so far!

Auch der neue Besitzer macht nach der Tradition seines Vorgänger weiter. Gute Deutsche Küche. Die Preise sind mittlerweile auch etwas gestiegen, aber dafür sind die Portion sehr groß. Das Essen ist schmackhaft und gut.

Essen war eine 10 von 10 super lecker. Allerdings haben wir zwischen Bestellung und Erhalt der Speisen schlanke 2h gewartet. Absolut schade, hätte ansonsten sehr viel potential

Wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe hier essen. Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, der Service war freundlich und schnell. Die Sanitäranlagen waren sauber.
