This new bistrot in the center of Cosne sur Loire seemed promising but was a disappointment. It is owned by La Tour restaurant owner (Sancerre), a Michelin star restaurant. While the cuisines at Bistro d'Anatole may be good, the service and atmosphere was so bad that we left without ordering after 45 minutes of waiting. We had reserved for dinner and were shown upstairs. The waiter brought us our menus and left. We were alone in the upstairs dinning room in November and it was cold because the window was open for some reason. An excellent lunch menu, which is probably the best value for money menu I have ever enjoyed in France. Each of the 3 dishes I enjoyed was very tasty (3 course lunch for just 20.50 euros)...interesting, slightly spicy starter of honey beef ravioli, nice warming chicken, with creamy sauce and rice for main course, then a beautifully fresh mango cheesecake for dessert. All very good!The service here was pretty good and the atmosphere and decor were nice. This is clearly very highly regarded locally, as we dined here on a Tuesday lunchtime in December and there must have been at least 40-50 people in the restaurant, spread across the lower level area and larger area up the stairs at the back.
The owner of the B and B, that we were staying in, booked this for us and it was a great recommendation. We had the 20 euro menu which enabled us to have a starter and a main or a main and dessert. There were pre starters of a cheese gougere and a slice of salami and a fondant tomato stuffed with aubergine caviar before our mains of cod with Provençal vegetables and veal steak and a morilles sauce Desserts of pannacotta with strawberries and a classic raspberry tart. All beautifully cooked and presented with friendly and efficient service. The restaurant was full which is always a good sign and I would recommend.
After spending a couple of hours wandering the streets of Cosne - it was time to eat. It was a cool, damp day - and stepping inside the bistro was wonderful. Promptly greeted, I was directed to a pleasant table where I enjoyed wonderful wine and the daily chicken special. The portions were perfect, the potatoes outstanding, and the crisp skin on the chicken said "I'm cooked perfectly".

This is a very nice place for lunch, the food is good and prices very reasonable. The service is also good and proprietors attentive. Not so interesting in the evening as the decor is dull and it lacks atmosphere.
We ate here in May with friends. The food was superbly presented and was delicious. A real cut above the average, but not expensive. We heartily recommend.
As I walked into the store I was a bit surprised to find the menu only had titles of the food along with a picture, no description of what I would be
These guys are busy, I mean like, so run off their feet all I can see are slight snippets of shoes as they hover across the floor and workstations.

Simply a very nice restaurant. Good service, nice regional wines and surprisingly imaginative dishes. Would repeat 100%
