We were meeting some friends for lunch who lived near Montelimar. The restaurant we usually use was closed so we went to Au bon heure which was nearby. We went for the Prix Fix lunch menu. The main course choice was either a white fish or chicken , with cheese and pudding to follow. We were expecting normal brasserie fare, but , wow ,were we pleasantly surprised. The flavourings and spices used in both the fish and chicken were incredible. They were served with a rice which was so fragrant and tasty that it was a meal in itself, The cheese board was a selection of different types of goat cheese from a local farm . Again, exceptional. This restaurant, in a corner of this small village, is really a rough diamond! First of all I would like to thank the lady of the house for her perfect service, she moves earth and heaven to make it comfortable for you. Her daily fresh offer of food is really amazing good, the selected wine's are amazing good, the location es just perfect, and once again, the lady of the house is adorable!! Even if you are a tourist, but show some respect for the french culture, and try to speak some french.. We couldn't have a better lunch, and absolutely will go back here!!A bientôt!! :)5* without doubt!!!!!
If you happen to be in Montelimar on your way South (good place to make a stop-over on the long haul Paris-Nice), stroll around town and try to end up at Claire's restaurant Au Bonheur du jour. It's on a small square (a bit hidden) near the art-cinema (pretty good programming and English movies in English!) and a small theatre (L'auditorium). she serves some amazing dishes, normally just from what she found on the market that day. A little terrace in front. Can't be better.
The cook is excellent! I recommend you, however I advise you to go early because very quickly some options can be broken. Also there were forgetful about the choice of drinks that forced some people to not be able to consume while there were syrups...

excellent food, attentive service in a quiet setting we had green lemon chicken that made us snorkel the bones and lick our plates.
Very nice discovery, simple menu 2 entries, 2 dishes, 2 desserts but very well cooked. I recommend without hesitation
