We had heard good things about this Restaurant so decided to give it a try on arrival we were shown to a table and a waitress took our order after 30 mins and having seen several people who had arrived after us enjoying their meals i asked the waitress how much longer we would have to wait, she tried to apologize saying she was sorry after another 10 mins i called the patron and said we had a ferry to catch and how much longer did we have to wait. He was quite nasty and said that our meal would be 2 mins at which point the waitress appeared and started to put two plates of salad in front of us and promptly whipped them away to the table next to ours. Pour commencer, 20 minutes d'attente avant que quelqu'un ne se rende compte que l'on était là (peut-être parce que nous étions en terrasse car il n'y avait pas beaucoup de monde en intérieur). Le menu du jour n'avait rien d’exceptionnel malheureusement (rôti de veau) et le menu enfant (prix correct de 5 euros avec plat boisson dessert et surprise !) propose les habituelles frites nuggets/saucisses/steak hâché. This is a cafe situated in a shopping centre close to a popular supermarket, especially with British visitors. I've been here before and the food has been fine. Even with a post Brexit Pound, it was good value.We went into the restaurant in mid afternoon and all menus were still up and several customers were there. We found a table - whilst being watched by the two female staff.Then started the 1970s sit-com style farce where both of them managed, for 15 minutes, to avoid eye contact with us and made sure that any possible orders were not taken. We used Au Calais when visiting Coquelles for a shopping trip and when visiting Majestic Wines. As usual it is bright, spotless and very welcoming. We had a quick lunch on the first of our two days and settled for a beer and sandwich. Both were very pleasant and good value. Two beers and two full baguette sandwiches for 13 euros. On the second day we had a very good breakfast, English, orange juice and coffee. On both occasions the English speaking staff were very friendly and efficient.The fact that shoppers and locals frequent Au Calais is enough to recommend it to others.

avec mon mari et mes enfants nous y allons de temps en temps quand nous passons a côté ou pour fêter un anniversaire les plats sont bons, le service et le temps d'attente sont comment dire ............aléatoire j'ai envie de dire que selon la serveuse sur laquelle on tombe défois ça ira vite cela sera agréable et d'autre fois 30 min avant que l'on nous apporte la carte il ne faut pas être pressé pour manger là il faut avoir le temps sans cela ça reste correct
Nous sommes arrivées à 14 un soir vers 20h15 sans avoir réservé et on nous a préparé une grande table. Bon accueil bon service bon rapport qualité prix. Une dégustation de soupe nous a été proposée. Assiette copieuse, je vous le recommande
