A quintessential restaurant, located on Pl. de Béthune, in the lovely city of Lille. Authentic, satisfying local dishes on offer from this region of France, with Flemish influences, given its proximity to the Belgian border. Quite hearty filling dining, with good portions too. Very popular with locals tourists alike and a cheery ambience abounds. Friendly, attentive staff on hand. Outdoor terrace seating under canopy, with heating available. And a good selection of beverages on offer with the local 'blonde ' Augustinus beer hitting the spot as well.
Here are the years that we have been visiting the golden paon... the place to go to meet with friends and enjoy a delicious croque gentleman like nowhere else to go ... what disappointment during our last visit: the croque gentleman is no longer the croque gentleman who made the reputation of this establishment... dried bread, not grilled, fade filling... we will not be the only ones I think to be very friendly... positive point: our server is very probious...
Nous avons déjeuné après avoir bien trotté dans le centre de Lille. Le restaurant est bien placé dans une rue piétonne animée et la terrasse est séparée du flux des passants pour plus de tranquillité. Le service était attentionné et rapide. Les plats étaient corrects à l'exception de la carbonnade qui avait du être réchauffée plusieurs fois tant certains morceaux de viande était coriaces à mastiquer.
I could taste the lilloise plate and it was really good! Moreover, for people who love me always hesitate between dishes, it allows to taste everything! Good initiative from the golden paon! prices are however a little high for small currency doors.

So we were staying in Kortrijk, Belgium for a few days and decided that since we had a rental car, we should go cross another border for an evening and grab...
It's certainly the best place in the center of Lille where you can eat a welsh. The terrace is pretty big and heated so you can eat outside pretty all year...
Imagine: you're in Lille for the Week end, it's the middle of the afternoon, kitchens are closed, and you're craving for a Welsh. This is where you end up....
Très bon accueil. Le service était au top. On a pris des welsh. Servi plutôt rapidement. Les prix sont corrects. Pas déçu. Très bien.
