Don't be put off by what appears to be the rather naff pseudo English name Le Home for the hotel part this establishment. Au Pere William is the name of the restaurant and quite nicely puns on the Williams pear (which is included in one of their salads there's a lot of fruit in other dishes too). I'm not sure they intended the reference to the Lewis Carroll rhyme. Basically, this is a delightfully cheery place on the very western edge of the old town of Belves. From the main square, wander along the rue Manchotte and when you come to the end it's diagonally opposite you on the right across the Place Croix des Freres. Charming service of a number of menus between 20 and 30 euros and a well formed carte containing a range of Perigordian fare, including a particularly flavoursome magret de canard with peaches. Slightly cliched presentation (unnecessary balsamic squiggles even at the edge of a white fish dish, and a tile for the dessert which seems to be de rigueur now), but all in all a very pleasurable experience. To cap it all, visit the cleanest restaurant toilets in this part of France!! Well done, mother William!!

We dined as 4 adults and one child one chilly February evening. We had a good welcome which unfortunately went dramatically downhill when it was realised that we were foreign. The same reaction happened to a Dutch family arriving shortly after us. We live in France and don't usually get this reaction at a restaurant. We make an effort to speak French which is usually welcomed. All the starters were OK, especially the lovely smoked salmon which I had. For main course, my husband had the Confit de Canard with Sarladais potatoes. The duck was rather dry and we think shop bought potatoes. I had Steak which was a bit tough and difficult to cut. (Our dogs ate well the next day!! We needed to help ourselves to an extra bottle of water, as the waiter spent a long time talking to the French customers and we couldn't seem to attract his attention. Desserts were OK, but not very memorable . There are many restaurants far more welcoming, which we often return to. This restaurant won't be one of them!

I sung here with my aunt and my brother. The atmosphere was beautiful and also the food. We had a 4-course menu for which we have no complaints. I'd say if you're hungry and feel free in the area to stop. You can park right next door, which makes it less than half a minute walk. Conclusion, worth the money and hospitality. We eat it pretty well but the boss has to stop taking his head to his guests, he has a demeanored ego (me, me, me... when we want to relax to eat it's not the top! On the other hand, high price quality ratio (please be more than any Service: 2 Location: 3
