We ate here as a family on two occasions during our stay in Arcangues, and my husband and I also shared a pichet of rose on the terrace another evening. The service was really friendly; the lovely waitress was so patient with my variable French and she worked her socks off all evening, serving everyone. She was even serving dishes with children's toys hanging off her arm at one point, catering for everyone! The second time we went to eat, my husband had to go home with a migraine and she very kindly wrapped up a slice of the delicious Basque cherry cake for me to take home to him. The outdoor area of this restaurant is one of the most picturesque settings in the region. The food used to be simple but soulful. A nice omelette aux cepes or aux piments to start and the duck confit with great fries cooked in duck fat. The mediocre and slow service and inane wine list was more than made up by one of the most picturesque settings in the region. The outdoors on the small town´s square bordered by a church and a handball court was delightful. Somehow they can't even make the fries anymore and the rest of the food is un-edible. This place will soon close.
Went with my family to have dinner. Its in a little town called Arcangues, 15 mins away from Biarritz.The town is really nice. Very tiny typical basque town. The restaurant has a geat terrace to go with family, kids or friends. You can eat a la carte, but I alwys get the menu. You get several choices, I get omelette au cepes (mushroom omelette), confit de canard (duck) with A LOT of fries and gateau basque (typical cake from the basque country). Overall a great choice if you are near biarritz and not expensive.
We have been coming here for about 10 years and it has been consistently good. A wonderful outside area to eat in which is the old village square at Arcangues next to the church with peninsular war bullet holes as Wellington slept in the nearby chateau. Plenty of room for the kids to play games or hit a tennis ball. Husband and wife owned and run and we love the Ibaiona (a plate of local ham) and the magret de canard to share for two. Under the trees, enjoy the cool atmosphere of a hot sunny day The Cuisine is really full basquese cuisine.It is simple and efficient.Do not choose the roasted chicken. Over dried.But it remains a traditional place. You can miss the food if you forgot to book a table before!! The golf is 500 yards away from it. But do not miss a visit of the church. Here also the typical architecture of a local church .. 300 years old!
This restaurant is only as its location on the site of the very pretty village of Arcangues,a lovely setting - a terrace. simple dishes on the menu are more basic in their reality, only the prices are remarkable: 11th omelette, minimum main course in 20e.the wine list is poor. In summary avoid there is much better in the area for less.
Lovely setting, it is best to seat outside under the plane trees. The menu is simple, not many wines to choose from and the service is average. The food is your typical fare of the region, well delivered at good prices. We have been there many times over the years and will always return
Very simple fare, benches inside. We were taken by friends, and enjoyed the dinner. It's a simple local option. We returned for a lunch outside under the grapevines, nothing special, but a very nice atmosphere. What more can you ask for if you're in good company? Reserva una mesa ahora
