We had not been back at the Auberge de Confignon for a while, and today we lived to regret that ... so seated under the trees with a wide view over the Geneva, today we savoured the delicacies for lunch - from the day's menu a succulent tuna carpaccio, followed by an original chicken saltimbocca - and from the à la carte menu tender roasted coquilles (with apologies that asperragus were no longer in season, replaced by avocado) and a delicious steak tartare. The waiter seduced us with a desserts of prunes (actually, a hybrid of prunes and apricots) with orange sorbet. We could then do nothing else but conclude a great meal with digestives - abricotine and calvados. We are not letting time slip by again, and ensured a reservation for dinner in ten days ... to be continued ...
The auberge de Confignon had been our long time favourite (especially for chasse) but it had become a bit stodgy, and ended up in a timeworp of the 1980s. So hurray, hurray, new ownership has arrived, and with it a facelift for the restaurant and a new and innovative cuisine. We had lunch at the bistro on a warm September afternoon and had an excellent time under the trees. Service was very friendly, food was great and the experience made us determined to try out the gourmet restaurant soon. So for the time being a cautious "very good" rating, but certainly with the potential to move up to excellent!!PS their charriot de verrines for dessert is amazing.
Went with a group of friends for dinner.Starters were excellent,Perfect Parmesan risotto,fresh salads and lovely mushroom dish.Maincourse was selle de chevreuil and cote de boeuf.The cote was marvelous but the selle was ridiculously small for two persons.Both meats were of excellent quality.Cheese plate was a weak point.Desserts were made in small verrines.Excellent idea and very good.White wine a lovely sauvignon blanc,red wine was ok,It was a gamaret but we should have gone for something with more body having meat.CHF 400.- for four persons.Service was excellent and friendly.Good choice but Geneva outskirts have plenty of similar places....
First: the exact name is "Auberge de Confignon", including a hotel, a restaurant and a bistro. We visit the bistro, eating one time in the quiet garden, the other time inside. The atmosphere of the place is a bit cold, and the service could be more charming and friendly. Never main the cuisine is very good, classic french (quenelle de brochet aux écrevisses) with some italian dishes (pasta with pesto). Next table the guests enjoy beautiful meat with a choice of sauces. And also remarkable: the wines list.
