Upon arrival, fairly friendly personnel. Owner (Elder lady) comes out being a bit bossy, which we accepted as an older people can be a bit bossy at times :-) So we sustained in being friendly and having a conversation, which went fairly OK.Menu came, we chose, got a salad in advance and after that got the dish. Dish was basic food on a smoking hot plate - straight from the oven but had been held warm in it for too long: chicken filet was dried out, green beans visibly dried out and sauce visibly dried out (with "bumps" in it). Taste was not bad, just much too salty.Worst part when the bill came: 5 CHF per person for the 'couvert' (nowhere written), 10CHF added for the tap water served 'caraf...

we set out on a short bicycle ride towards Anières on this lovely Sunday morning. As it was meant to be short, we didn’t take any food, expecting to be back in time for lunch. The sun, the blue skies and the bright spring green, lured us on and on, so by lunch time we found ourselves in Jussy, 11 kilometers away from home and starving. The hostess at the auberge there informed us dryly that if we didn’t have a reservation we could forget about having lunch there, so we set off back towards Gy, hoping for better luck at the Auberge we had passed on the way.Unlike the first place, here we were welcomed warmly. We were then informed that we would be getting duck confit for lunch. And so we did. I...

fair meals family style service. We've went there during our long walk at countryside. Nice place, very local. It was a day of public holiday, they only had a daily menu. We've chosen marinated herring as starter (it was fresh good, though the taste...was quite sweet, which was somewhat strange . I took duck confit as main dish (it was good , my husband preferred fish (fera it was good too. Tart de pruneau (plum cake was also tasty, coffee was good. Menu costs 50 fr per person, service is friendly but slow (which is typical for this type of places people are mainly local, they go to the restaurant to talk enjoy their time for longer then we usually do: my conclusion: it's a nice place if you... First of all, you need to understand that this is not a classic restaurant with menus and services, of course there is a menu, but the owner cooks what she likes and what they find best to use. To be prepared, it's better to buy them and ask what you want. This restaurant is the extension of the family kitchen. The food is amazing and Marie Jo (I agree that setting can be strange for the first time) is super beautiful, we feel that she loves to share what she loves to cook. She has her temperament, I agree, but after a few times, you know that you come for food, but also for a chat with her, she is the Saoul of the place.

Three of us ate al fresco in a cool night, but when we were well wrapped, we chose to stay outside, although the owner said we were welcome to eat inside. The menu is limited, but what there is fresh and of good quality. It is also quietly prepared with a friendly service. The ambience is very relaxed with a good mix of families, couples and individual locals. Definitely worth a return trip!
