We stumbled across the Auberge de Suzanne when exploring the region. I wasn't that hungry, my husband insisted we should eat there and what a good decision that was! It was one of the best meals I have had, with a helpful and welcoming proprietor who was patient with my basic level French, a handwritten menu and plenty of choice. We paid a little over £30 for apertifs, two rounds of soft drinks, two courses for both of us and dessert which we shared - and we were given nibbles including delicious saucisson and of course, fresh bread, whilst we awaited our food. It was not just one of the best but one of the best value meals we have had. The cured ham and goats cheese salad to start were both delicious, and we both followed with the magret de canard and then the meringue - huge, with lots of fresh fruit and different ice creams. The setting is lovely and looking out towards the Chateau Suzanne with the sun streaming through the windows was ideal. We will happily go out of our way to visit there again in the future, thank you for a wonderful meal and experience.
