What a fabulous dining experience! One of the best if not THE best in my life. This meal really hit home for us that we were in France the land where food is revered and meals are special times! Far cry from America and happy for it. For 30 Euro each, we had a five course meal in the shadow of a medieval castle. The town is charming and well kept. Not sure describing it would do justice, but can only say their interpretation of the goat cheese salad was divine. Avocado sorbet for amuse bouche, homemade ice cream for dessert in between gorgeous, meaty mushroom risotto and fresh local veggies. Great vegetarian options not a just subtract meat situation ; Chef is extremely talented! While we we...

Whether the title refers to l'Auberge des Troubadours or your host Dave I will let you decide. This is a great little auberge whether you are following Le Sentier des Cathares long distance path, just calling in for a meal (please book ahead) or as we did making it the destination on a two day circular walk just for the pleasure of staying here. The greeting at the end of a day's walk is friendly with excellent beer and cider (or ice cream) to be had. The room is simple and very comfortable. In the kitchen Jenny produces interesting traditional food that is exactly what one wants. Dinner is punctuated by Dave's impromptu performances on a variety of strange musical instruments a pre dinner b...

It was a truly great experience to dine here. We had just a fantastic walk around the castle in the morning on passing the restaurant it looked too good to miss. However as we already had dinner booked that evening we did not want three courses each but it was agreed we could share. The food was just brilliant, great combinations of flavours it looked lovely on the plate. The added bonus was the music, Dave our host played a variety of local interesting instruments over the course of the meal took the time to explain all about them. For us the day at Roquefixard was the highlight of our holiday.

Our family hiked up to the ruins above the restaurant late in June; this was a nice 30 minute hike. We parked at the restaurant. I would recommend reservations or at least checking in at the restaurant before hiking up so that you will have a table when you return. Occasionally they get big groups so you could be left without a table if they are busy. We had the steak and frites (shared a couple of orders); this was outstanding! I also had the cheese plate that was super as well. Passed on any wine as drove on to Barcelona following lunch. Would love to return! Reserva una mesa ahora

Roquefixade is a quiet lovely village perched below the ruins of a castle dating back to the time of the Cathars. As hikers, we were delighted by a warm welcome from David and exceptional cooking (from local artisan products) by Jennifer. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the silence of the night was delightful. We highly recommend this wonderful place and look forward to returning another time.

Roquefixard is a small village. Very cosy restaurant with friendly owners who are British but also speak French. they serve a menu in bufet style, mainly with local products which was very good. If you like to have a laid back dinner surounded by a magnificant nature. This is the place to be when you are around.

Great location along the GR107 and GR367. The gite has private rooms and a bunk room. There is a bar on site with local wines. Breakfast and dinner is served. The guys running it are very helpful. Thanks for everything

There is not much else to eat/drink in the village of Roquefixade, so why not stop for a drink or bite to eat at the Gite d'Etape! Friendly, relaxed, a place where many hikers stop for a break. Reserva una mesa ahora
