Auberge D’Imbes is a lovely little restaurant/auberge set in a peaceful, rural location close to Archignac village in the Dordogne. Everything about this place is terrific the service always with a smile, the fabulous menu and the food is exquisite. We sat outside on the terrace which after dark is lit with stringed lights giving it a romantic and cosy feel. The menu has a range of different variations and something for most speciality is duck cooked in many ways. We started with an aperitif the Pêche wine, was delish and highly recommended! For food, we only wanted main course and dessert (at a push) and so I had the fish of the day a white sea fish (rather than river) which was delicious,...

This family restaurant is really situated off the beaten tracks. It is almost in the middle of nowhere. The dining room is very nice, not too big, and sufficiently intimate. It is a simple, straightforward, classical kitchen, but really delicious. As starters, we had a tartar of two salmons (smoked and raw) and a sauté of duck liver, both of which were very good and tasty. Afterwards, we hade sliced, stuffed veal and a sauté of lamb (ancient mode). Both were really delicious: soft and juicy, flavoured as expected. We stumbled upon this little gem near our holiday home but unfortunately not until the end of our stay. The menu du jour was just €13 for 5 courses including a quarter carafe of wine. We were not expecting much but were blown away by the quantity and standard of the food and wine. We had soup, melon and pama ham, lasagne and salad, cheese and finally walnut cake. Every course was delicious. We sat outside in a lovely setting and the young man who served us was friendly, helpful and charming. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return next year if we are close by.

We have only recently discovered this restaurant this year and, what a find! Tucked away in the heard of beautiful Dodogne countryside this great place has a friendly owner, great local produce, a lovely patio for the summer and cosy interior for cooler days. Since we were first introduced to the Auberge des Imbes we have taken all our friends and visitors and they have been as impressed as we are. All this and it's only a few minutes drive from where we live....perfect. We shall be back!
