We stayed one night in the Auberge with our little dog and were made welcome, all three. We ate dinner in the smart dining room. The food was good and the service excellent. The next morning a generous breakfast was served in the bar which is a cheerful part of the Auberge.Our room was charming and comfortable and the young owners, who have been there for seven years, have made a great success of their business.We had intended to stay two nights, to explore the nearby forests as well as the fortified town, but we had to change our plans. The proprietors were understanding and refused payment for the second night despite our firm offer to pay for it.Altogether a very pleasant stay.
This is a typical village pubby/restaurant place, very busy during the tourist season and offering a variety of foods, from moules and frites to a fullblown meal in the restaurant. It is small, and frequently filled with tourists, though the locals tend to eat in the restaurant, rather than outside on the terrace. It is a fun place, right in the centre of the village of Vouvant, which during the season is a thriving tourist trap. There is plenty of parking, though on a hot summers day, it might be a little more difficult to find a slot right beside the restaurant. The food is reasonable, but nothing exceptional. Service is reasonable and the ambience overall is quite stimulating.
We live in France and whenever we are in Vouvant we make sure to include this restaurant as our Lunch stop. It never fails. The staff are friendly and helpful and the menu covers all desires, including children's fussy appetites!I usually order moules frites in a cream sauce but this time I ordered Moules Frites in Curry sauce and it was mind-blowing! Just enjoy.
